I never thought there'd be a worse freshman-year assignment than me being required to read a Thomas Friedman book for an international relations class but this is it

The Department of Homeland Security is asking every NBA Finals home fan if they'd be willing to be part of an occupying force.

Everyone who's mad at consultants is mad at the candidates. Everyone who's mad at the groups is mad at the candidates.

Also, one of the things that Democrats are trusted most on is improving race relations.

As you can see from this picture, children have 50% of their father’s jeans

Other people have said this much more eloquently than me, but your average active-duty US servicemember is a reasonably ambitious young adult who couldn't afford to go to college, not a hardened SpecOps psycho who's been itching for an excuse to gun down the libs.

BREAKING: Kamala Harris issues statement on Los Angeles.

Them: “LA is a full on insurrection” Us at the protest:

It's worthwhile to pause for a moment and think about what a military operation to establish control over a major American city - let's say Los Angeles - would actually look like. The city of LA, which excludes most of the metro area, has nearly 4 million inhabitants. LA county has 10 million.

Almost verbatim, unbelievable

i guess my main question for people with this perspective is if they think something of an ideological bubble is worse than being called a "nigger" whenever you post

the vast silent vacuum of space is louder than the free speech warriors right now

Sometimes I think, "Oh, I'd love a real media job. I could use health insurance and a regular paycheck." But there's a lot of grace and freedom in KNOWING you can't rely on institutions. Stress and freedom. This is something that @mike-eagle.bsky.social and I talk about on @pastduepodcast.com!

The good news is that barely anyone watches this shit. The bad news is that the people who do run the government and the media.

Result: Gina Ortiz Jones will be the next mayor of San Antonio. The Democrat, and former Biden admin official, just defeated Republican Rolando Pablos in the country’s seventh most populous city. (She’s going to replace a retiring Dem.)

A large element of this is indeed spectacle, part of the reality TV program Trump is producing for his cult and for the right-wing media content machine. My sense is that the response will (1) continue to be incompetent overkill and (2) will backfire with the normies.

The easiest way to stop immigration to your country is to make it a worse place to live for everyone

Mein Führer... the Venice Beach Erewhon... has already fallen.

This is gonna hit different after a week of Miller and Homan playing soldier

So now we’ve got people-most of them sore losers, loser athletes or bigots-lining up to tell Simone Biles and Dawn Staley about how to best protect and nurture women’s sports. I know which side to trust on this one.

Returns just in from San Antonio’s election for mayor: 102K ballots just dropped (that’s the early and mail vote), and Dem Gina Ortiz Jones leads 52.2% to 47.8% over her GOP opponent. (In the first round last month, early/mail was roughly two-thirds of the total vote.)

Watching Duster is a reminder that Sawyer is the coolest guy on the planet, and my friend

Yesterday I caught up with Ken Casey, the lead singer of the iconic punk band Dropkick Murphys at a rally of veterans and labor unions on the National Mall, to talk punk rock and politics. My latest for @rollingstone.com www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

I’ve said it before but it is embarrassing that so many intellectuals spent years in small factional battles over the propriety of calling this fascism.

Hope other countries are excited for the LA Olympics!

Lots of people right now are worried about the Trump Regime trying to declare martial law. I'm more concerned about governors and mayors in blue states folding so the regime doesn't need to. Encourage your governors, mayors, etc., to hold the line. www.altrightdelete.news/p/hold-the-l...

Took advantage of a rainy day to read Moving Kings by Joshua Cohen - really hit the nail on the head in terms of what was going to happen to the Jewish community in the Trump era.

Mesopotamia by Serhiy Zhadan is a Hold Steady album as a book. I feel like I've been to killer parties in Kharkiv.

What Procter & Gamble don't want you to know is that the correct dose of Nyquil is one (1) swig

I’m late to this interview with Tony Gilroy but I think his answer, about why most art is progressive, hits the nail on the head. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/o...
