Hah, no worries 😂! May it serve as a lesson for today's young and stupid.

Long time ago, I passed on the opportunity of getting an older friend's 190E 2.6. Black leather, AC, big tank, manual, sport line, the works. And fully serviced at MB.
The problem with being young and stupid really is the *stupid* part :-).

First realization for me was browsing old mags from the late 70es. Queue the classifieds...
What?! How come an E-Type was ever that cheap?! Gave my dad a stern talking to. How could the moron miss that kind of an opportunity!
Think I was 10 and not interested in a lecture on running costs :-D.

God I should have bought one when people where giving them away. Can't believe how much they are now!
Pretty sure this is a candidate. Especially, but not exclusively, with the 6 pot.

Opel somehow seemed to mostly care about
spec sheets. Bet it's fixeable with modern OEM+ upgrades though.
But the C20XE <3. Old fart and pink specs at work, but what an engine. Punchy, driveable, efficient. Fritz Indra has become a bit of a grinch in old age, but he really knew his stuff.

Hah, turns out this is a good day in way more ways than one :-). They are lucky to have you!

Yeah, sensible choice that makes technical sense. Love to see it. Was curious so had a look -- cheapest premium brand tyre in the base size is 50€ (pretty decent Dunlop Sport All Seasons that would likely work very well on the Gull).
Cheaper stuff goes for half. Way to go :).

Ah that's a relief, was wondering how this would be road legal. Not sure what it has over Carplay + Zoom/Teams but either way, useful tool IMO.
Modern life sucks, but personally this allows me to skip a couple of nights away from home every month.

You really have to get better at trolling if you want to bait folk on here. It's an art and people have pretty high standards outside of Twitter.

Saving that for later in the week when on a short break. EP1 was already fantastic.
My background really is European cars and I knew nothing about AMC.
Thanks *a ton* for this mega documentary!

Yup. Peak ICE car * 2 in that picture.

Nice dilemma to have :). I'd be more interested in the Yaris myself, however the Lex is super rare and interesting as well.
Hm. Be selfish and decide based on which would be more fun to drive there?

180 ish in various fast (mostly German) things. Pretty stressful, don't like it much. But 140-150 happens occasionaly when conditions allow. Location advantage ;-).

Heh, always the same. So if they want to pinpoint the "human error", it's somewhere in IT / Purchasing leadership.
At least they didn't just call it a "Software Error". Really becoming a meme over here for anything catastrophic related to IT.

Yup. Sounds more like process / training failure. Getting someone in support to change password + second factor + potentially conditional access (assuming they did not steal a device) should seem fishy -- to someone *trained*.
Bet if one digs, they have very cost driven outsourced 1st lvl support.

Oooh, great name, much better :).
Would Sir like the "spent the weekend hunting" look?
Or is "Paris-Dakar" (now with a good helping of real desert sand!) more the active lifestyle Sir wants to portray?

Been wondering for some time now if there's a market for the reverse.
Over here, plenty of G wagons and Defenders that would support the owner's cosplay a lot better with a bit of mud on them.
But between the owners city place and the office, only asphalt.
So -> VSS (vehicle soiling service)?

Meh :-/.

200% with you. But I think the general public doesn't care that much. For me, evolution of BMWs proves that point.
Job 1 for the sports car: look good. Job 2, stats to impress colleagues at work.
With a turbo I think they'd sell more, but of a worse car.
Very happy you enjoy yours :)!

IMO mostly skilling up. The joint ventures taught them how to make quality mass produced cars.
Going on for 30+ years now. Guess what, clever and hard working folk at work. Of course they'll figure things out.
Now 5 minutes on Aliexpress is enough evidence IP isn't really a big concern...

Uh, looks like they have a whole system based on a motor plus various attachments. Brush cutting, hedge trimming, cultivator...
Total overkill for our little 60 m² veggie plot / garden. But tempting :-).

For EU I think turbo. Vert would have taken MX5 sales. But 300 hp would have sold it to hot hatch buyers that need stats for the pub (see Golf R). Plus captured some M sales.
For German market specifically, sports cars needs to beat a rep Passat at the Autobahn game. Silly, but that's the rule.

They are making retro cases now?! Not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, really cool.
But man does that make me feel old. Started playing around with that stuff 35 years ago. Would have killed for anything PC even remotely as non-beige as a Next Cube :-).

It looks *so* well made. Loving it <3. Not sure if I got the price converted right though...
Colleague used to have a cooking one with the small D4D diesel and a ~ 115 hp remap. Hilarious :).

In a parallel universe, they're trying to out-Alpine the A290 with a Nismo Micra :-/.
Didn't happen with the Clio/Micra. Won't happen here. But one can dream.

We're fairly small but have a good account manager. Will let them know this is influencing decisions to spend with MS. High time we reduce our dependency on US tech...

Yup, this CT sanewashing is really silly.
Just a pick from the phone, but this obviously not even trying to pack. Just throwing stuff in for a couple of days at the beach. Behold, the much acclaimed load lugger that is the GR Yaris :-).

... the problem with anything SDV (aside from the massive elephant 'safety') is keeping the silicon valley arseholes out of anything even closely related to the basic functioning of the vehicle.
As long as the core works, there's going to be an aftermarket for upgrading "the tech".
comment in response to

I usually buy older stuff as well. A trend I see coming is base model stuff with minimum 'tech taint' being worth more than what ever was the 'all gadgets' version at the time.
OTOH, there's a pretty active Chinese / East-Europe scene making upgrade devices / retrofits for a wide range of cars...
comment in response to

...that said, I quite like Carplay / AA.
Think what's needed is putting stuff in strictly isolated domains. Entertainment and less critical convinience stuff, let tech companies have at it.
Anything core to vehicle operation and more importantly anything safety critical, OEMs please.

Friend works at a test bench manufacturer for OEMs. Long time ago, they made a very minor change to their ABS compiler.
Next day, a very upset Bosch engineer calls in. Turns out they have people cross checking the entire ABS code in native assembler.
Total oposite of the tech bro approach...

Interesting use of the night vision cam. Wonder if that's good enough to collect data on insulation quality of buildings.
Also impressive: car warning you the moon is about to crash into the road ahead. Hope everybody is safe and sound :).
