Penciling also takes a lot of brainwork. By the time I get to inks and colors it's easy street. Inking is my favorite step. Coloring is hard because I have a hard time knowing when a page is "done."

You may think the hardest part of making comics is drawing the comics but the vast majority of my brainwork goes into writing and thumbnailing. Which is, coincidentally, the least cool looking part of the whole thing so it makes me feel like I get NO work done when I'm doing them.

I figured it out: it helps when you're working on the same thumbnail and the same page of the script, and not a page off. No wonder I couldn't parse the thumbnails.

luckily over the years I've learned a pretty handy trick to fix this, but it still makes me go "COOL" and have to take a little walk every time.
