I think they’ll struggle to sell players who are sat on ridiculously long contracts.

Good, that means Isak stays

They will know that a new stadium is required, that’s obvious as it’s not cost effective to expand St James’s Park. The due diligence that they’ll be doing is whether or not #nufc is worth that investment.

That is an odd one and worry we are buying him to replace Isak. He’s a CF, that’s where he gets most of his goals. Doesn’t make sense to spend £50m on a back up striker, unless Howe is changing formations.

Nobody knows what PIFs ambition is because there’s no communication from them. If they want #nufc to be a top club then they need to invest in a new stadium + training ground, but they are kicking that can down the road. They also need stability in the boardroom - which is currently missing.

PIF ownership is just a symptom of where football is now. If you want to win the PL or CL then you either need a miracle or the finances of a small country…and even then PSR will do its best to block you. If we want to return clubs to more traditional ownership then football needs to be reformed.

He’s 33 so probably somewhere between £8m - £11m

I think Pope will still be our number 1 this season with a gradual transition over to Trafford. Dubs is probably the one to go.

🤝 bids lodged for three players today so you could be right, Craig. 👍

For me this isn’t about PSR, it’s a symptom of a club which doesn’t have the right structure in place to make signings. We have an outgoing CEO & DOF. I don’t see PIF allowing Howe to spend large sums of money without that structure and strategy in place.
comment in response to post
We won’t sign him. I actually can’t see us signing anyone at the moment because we don’t have the right structure in place.

How is missing a penalty an error or “blunder”? The keeper saved it, shit happens.

He wants £250k a week. He’s also not worth £60m. Let Man U bankrupt themselves.

Back when #nufc had ambition.

I think we’ve done pretty well, the danger now is getting left behind. If you want to become an established top 4 / 5 side then you have to take some risks and invest.
comment in response to post
The reality is that back then we probably had to overpay for players to get them over the line. Now we are refusing to pay over our valuation for a player, which is fine but means we are competing with lots of other clubs - many of which are offering more cash and / or a bling pad in London.

Haaland is shite. I’ll die on that hill.

Howe & the DOF were never on the same page with regards to transfers. PM was openly critical of our transfer policy + said we had overpaid for players. The owners hired him on that basis. Now Howe & his team are picking players & clearly having a hard time convincing the owners to invest.

Totally agree. The rules are designed to preserve the current elite. They are anti-competitive (possibly even illegal) and sooner or later someone will take the PL to court over them and win. For the time being we have to work within those boundaries and that limits what we can do.

I think the real issue is that they are now unsure whether #nufc is worth that level of investment. We obviously think it is but what about some Saudi bloke who has no connection to the area? I’d put money on them pulling the plug on the new stadium.

If your aim is to be number one and you’re planning on building a new stadium to support that aim then you just announce it and have open dialogue with the fans.
comment in response to post
All that groundwork has been done, PIF have seen all the reports and have all the options regarding moving to a new ground. So where is the communication?
comment in response to post
I think the problem is the lack of communication from the owners and that tells you where the fans are in terms of importance to PIF.

I think he goes for around £120m. He’s refusing to negotiate a new deal so either we keep him and he goes for much less or we cash in now and go and find ourselves another diamond in the rough. PSR means we can’t afford to not do business.
comment in response to post
It’s not about faith, it’s about the reality. At this point in time #NUFC can’t compete with clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or even Spurs - in terms of revenue. That limits our ability to keep players like Isak (for now).
comment in response to post
We aren’t spending £60m on a second choice striker. Not with the current PSR constraints.
comment in response to post
Isak is one of the top 3 strikers on the planet. He will know that he can earn double / treble elsewhere and have the opportunity to actually win league titles / the CL. We are improving but are nowhere near clubs like Liverpool.
comment in response to post
We’re not spending £60m on replacing Wilson…that’s why they want to extend his deal. Pedro is Isaks replacement…… well he would have been until Chelsea turned up, he’s off there now. On to the next.

Spending £60m on a second striker when we have PSR restrictions?…..

He was fully in charge of transfers so him leaving just before the summer window is pretty catastrophic. The fact he’s now going two weeks early proves that it’s been causing issues.
comment in response to post
It’s not a typical company or industry though. PM was in charge of transfers & all that work comes together within a small transfer window where the club is competing against a number of clubs. He can’t be negotiating for players when he’s leaving, it’s ridiculous.

The moment Paul Mitchell decided he couldn’t hack it he should have been removed and responsibility handed over. Having him there but not really there is just comedy. Proper amateur stuff

I hope you’re right 👍👍

They are just kicking that can down the road which tells me they aren’t interested long term.
