Excellent article, which compares speeches of EU leaders and Starmer. The former talk warmly about shared values, mutual benefits, working “with” each other. Starmer focuses on what the UK got “from” the EU. Encapsulates different mindsets in a nutshell. EU seeks win-win. UK still zero sum.

The idea that Britain has a military of such vast power that EU strategic independence can't be constructed without it is wrong and dangerous. Wrong bc the UK military, the nukes apart, has nothing special to offer and and dangerous bc it's intimately connected to the US's at every level
