MIT was great for me, since I was such a nerd in high school. I was finally among my own kind, lol

In the history of not understanding history, no man has ever understood history less than Donald Trump.
He’s crossed the event horizon of ignorance and idiocy.

Yeah, I wish I could have -10 subscriptions to the NYT, but I'll have to settle for 0.

We are being governed by a guy who thinks complaining to the manager is how all problems get sorted.

This is how I feel about Elon Musk. I saw him as a poseur back in the 2000's. I remember not wanting to use Paypal early on because he and Thiel had a bad vibe, and someone chided me, saying something like "I thought you would be into tech?" Yeah, but not with those two.

I've been to protests on Boston Common, and you can't even tell there's a protest happening if you're on the other side of the Common. Cities really are incomprehensibly vast.

I know it's too late for me, but perhaps my tale of woe can be a warning to others

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know
Oh. It's the world I know

Quiet, empty street
Someone asks the secret service guy standing in front of us whether it's over. "Honestly I have no idea," he replies

I've been impressed by how they've managed to wring some satire out of the present moment.

Scrolled down to find this reply, which was exactly what I thought. Like, not even joking, I was confused as to why the font looked different than usual

Beach Boys was my first concert, too! I saw them at a place in western Mass called Riverside, which is now a Six Flags.

I'm like the opposite of you. I always find something I like in a genre or experience some mood that fits it. Of course, I haven't been exposed to everything. There are cultures that use a vastly different tuning than western music. But I suspect with time I could acquire the taste for those, too.

What if there were a such thing as country metal? (Is there a such thing as country metal?)

And yet...I have to be back in the office three days a week. To be fair, I would rather work with people in person. There's something nice about being able to have a conversation at random during the workday. Not that I have that now: I go into the office to meet with people in conference calls.

I don't believe in ghosts, but I'm afraid of ghosts :/
I mean, I live in New England. There are so many places here that are just haunted, so, like, what can I even do.

Anyway, I’m out. I don’t know this org that is dominating the speeches, and their vibe is sort of off? I get that communities directly affected by ICE might not want to show up, but these folks seem clueless about the particular issues of immigration and are not speaking about them.

In fairness I’m seeing a lot of SEIU folks too. I wish they were leading this. Now some speaker is advertising her personal TikTok as a place to send videos and pics of ICE. Thankfully someone interrupted to advertise LUCE Mass, which is actually useful.

All the speakers seem to be middle aged or old white people, not local organizers I have seen before. I guess I got here late?

I’m not jazzed about the use of a swastika even as a comment on Trump. The crowd is a couple hundred maybe, but I see people leaving already. There’s a small group of police on the other side of the plaza, standing and sitting on city hall steps.
