Sure, but should that be a reason not to admit information into our ontology?

Exactly! Dan thought information is real. He was very fond of this quote from Wiener:
āInformation is information, not matter or energy. No materialism which does not admit this can survive at the present day.ā

We used to play the 1st edition of the fantasy RPG back in my school days and the majority of classes fell somewhere between tax-collector and rat-catcher. Iām still amused by the fact that they distinguished between grave (corpses) and tomb (valuables) robbers.

Strange claim about anesthesiology there too. Seems like he means that anesthesiology nurses (rather than doctors) will become redundant, which fits the weirdly gendered profile of the article.

This passage about ShūzŠKuki's explication of the aesthetic concept of Iki is from @chaykak.bsky.social 's Filterworld, which I highly recommend!

As the J.F.K. inauguration parade photos show, the differences in how both sides displayed their military prowess were mostly in set dressing and space constraints.

I keep seeing these leaks and I think Apple is really scrambling here: they clearly have no fresh ideas for where to take the iPhone, but following the lessons of the m-series MacBook redesign (e.g. fit a much larger battery that lasts 2+ days) would def hurt long-term sales, so they just Ive it

As a result, that is an *extremely* fringe view that you don't come across in the wild all that much. There's nothing illiberal about treating people with contempt when they express odious, discredited views. Empathy is good as a general principle but it needs limits.

Ok, so I dig the instrumental parts a lot, but Iām not entirely sold on the vocals. I think I bounced off them for this reason before, but I will give a few more listens. On the up side, it made listen to No Means No again.
