The problem with (cleaned up) is that what some readers see as a neutral readability edit, others might see as substantive one, and obscures the latter.

In other words, people will always find ways to gamble and play risky and illegal investment games. We should regulate those things, but what makes crypto uniquely dangerous is that people choose it over those other options because they fear (or are rooting for) the collapse of institutions.
