I did find this one set interesting because it has some relatively accurate constellations and asterisms with real Hawaiian names, with only two (that I know of) being made up but still made sense in a way (see alt text)

And also, I get international audiences wouldn’t notice but ~80% of the time if I see a scene taking place in Hawai’i I can tell exactly where it is. This movie was stated to be placed in Kaua’i but every location is obviously on O’ahu? I get it’s the “island with no big cities” (🙃) line but still

Overall, the movie production and acting felt way cheaper than it was supposed to be. I felt like I was watching a Disney Channel original movie… from the 90s

Speaking of language, the Hawaiian throughout was alright but it could’ve stood to have actors that actually know how to speak/pronounce Hawaiian words to sing Hawaiian songs (*cough* Sydney *cough*)

The pidgin was a little flat (my work bestie thought it was “way better than 50 First Dates’ pidgin”) I could kinda tell it’s pretty forced in some places
Honestly felt like Tia’s (Mrs. Kekoa) delivery was the most convincing (Amy Hill was close but it still felt like she was doing an impression)

The movie’s saving grace is Maia Kealoha as Lilo, she is so darling and hilarious, she reminds me of my niece when she was younger (just less kolohe, her brothers got all the naughty lol)
Stitch was kinda cute too and funny ig but I wasn’t a fan of them enabling each other’s bad behavior
