Is anyone besides Newsmax, KGET in Bakersfield, & FOX26 in Houston reporting on this yet? Apparently DoD deployed active-duty troops to Texas, Florida, & Louisiana a week ago. Just put out a statement "for immediate release" today. Almost like a certain blue state governor warned would happen next

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

If they’re going to charge municipal officials with assault for requesting to see a warrant, I don’t see the benefit of ensuring all anti-ICE actions are orderly or “peaceful.” You can be an elected official calmly invoking procedural norms, they don’t care.

How can one be accused of assaulting a federal officer (ICE) if the person hasn’t been shown actual federal credentials during the encounter? This essentially means ANYONE can kidnap you, and you assume that fighting back when some random stranger forces you into a car could get you arrested. #ICE
