Something that took me too long to figure out as a kid was that "I didn't do it" and "it wasn't me" were seen as admitting to it. I still don't understand it, but I do know better than to say anything when someone is fishing for a culprit.

There's a lot of culture I missed by watching sci-fi, being involved with politics and tech through the 2000s and 2010s instead of watching reality TV or YouTube. I'm better off on net but there's a lot of figures whose pasts are treated as obvious who are alien to me.
