TIL the closest Publix store to Washington State is in Virginia.

And the grant program you’re bragging about is contingent on localities raising sales taxes before receiving any state funds; and there’s no requirement that the $ pays specifically for new police officers.

The ecomomy in WA is one of the best in the country — we shouldn’t have to be nickel and dime-ing people to death with endless tax increases.

This is politicking at its most basic form. Of course we honor our veterans so you must be a good guy for giving them relief. The “real talk” is that the government keeps growing and property tax increases on lower/middle class folks is still regressive AF.

Bring your pet to the park by walking or driving. Other people with allergies and phobias should not have be subjected to your every personal desire.

Thx for the convo. Open yourself up to the people around you and learn why they really vote the way they do (vs why you think they do). It might surprise you how much you all have in common.
comment in response to post
My initial point remains the same. If you understand the history, you might understand the voting patterns. Votes can be a form of protest. Sometimes people who live in depressed economies use their vote to protest the status quo.

Love your neighbors. Don’t imagine politicians work for regular folks. They serve whoever pays for their reelection campaigns.

I know this has been an ongoing battle. I read something earlier about the city saying they were working on anti-masturbation infrastructure in this park and I couldn’t quite figure out what that meant, lol. Thx for replying.

Are folks supposed to be OK with open masturbation in public spaces? Maybe I’m not understanding something? I know it’s a nude beach, but … Help me out.

Red States used to be productive but we as a country decided to offshore factory jobs to make goods cheaper and hollowed out their economies. Consider this reparations if it makes this federal support more palatable. Check out the demographics of these states for further edification.

West Seattle Blog FTW (as usual).

It’s déjà vu all over again.

What makes you assume any corporate donations are “just donations” vs quid pro quo?
comment in response to post
The assumptions are all yours.

And yes, cut spending, too. If the luxury benefits WA provides are on the backs of the middle class vs those who pull in the highest income; it just increases income inequality.
comment in response to post
Take out the unrealized gains portion of the wealth tax to make it possibly more palatable. The way WA taxes property is also unfair in the same way as it taxes on the value of property vs the actual wealth of the owner.

Not in favor. There will be plenty of intoxicated people at sporting events behaving badly. No need for the state to encourage it and end up paying millions in lawsuit settlements later when the inevitable transpires.

He didn’t and you all are political animals who don’t ever give grace to anyone not on your preferred “side”. Have fun with your circle jerk. I’m rooting for anyone who is working for the benefit of exhausted and worried parents whose kids aren’t the amazing after school special exceptions.

Try Whole Foods roasted Chicken- it is delicious.

You might be thinking of turkeys? Chickens are rarely larger than 3 lbs. where I shop in the US.

It’s cumulative. I have rarely seen any comments on Bluesky that aren’t heavily biased progressive.

Biden proposed mandatory reporting of small deposits to US Banks when he was in office. Were you also appalled by that? If so, then I’ll take you more seriously.

It’s not to cash a check. It’s to track possible money laundering. If you’re just sending a few bucks, you’ll have nothing to hide.
comment in response to post
Why would “people who are just trying to send a few bucks to relatives abroad” be hurt?

Teachers will not likely be included. If they are, they’ll just strike and recoup their losses. Also note that those who might be furloughed just got a raise.
comment in response to post
Teachers belong to a union that protects their interests. They are usually insulated from budget cuts.
comment in response to post
Because a budget is supposed to be based in reality. Seattle has proven that when you try to garnish high earnings, people vote with their feet and move elsewhere.

People like watching JWOW and Snookie on the boob tube, too. Not sure whether judging AI art on what people will consume is any indication of its intrinsic cultural value.

James Pernell Sherard pleaded guilty in 1987 to aggravated murder, a capital offense, for brutally stabbing Madeline Beltran, 52, repeatedly in the throat, chest, legs and lower abdomen. Evidence of sexual abuse was also found.

Lived through the Nisqually Earthquake in a building in the liquefaction zone (aka duwamish flood zone). Not sure a sign would have made much difference to me. Like a warning label on a pack of cigarettes; only the truly pusillanimous will notice.

May be a political hit job in the making. Ferguson has been perceived to not be sufficiently progressive. There is no info in this article that quotes anyone saying anything about the culture in his office.

Proud of parents for stepping up and getting more involved. Hope it will continue.💪

To all the comments about taxing the rich: eventually you will run out of other people’s money to spend. Why not audit programs to ensure they make fiscal sense? We can all agree the government wastes a lot of money, can’t we?

Prices in WA are already higher than the majority of other states due to your party’s insatiable appetite for taxing the poor and middle class and pissing away your constituents’ hard earned money.

“…health officials said 55% of cases reported methamphetamine and/or opiate usage. The spread is more prominent amongst drug users and men who have sexual contact with other men, as anal contact is more likely to spread the disease via infected fecal particles

Represent your constituents (all of them) with class as befitting your leadership position. Set a tone for how you would like to see your candidate treated were she the one giving the address.
