LOL at the couple of errors in this thread.

“loud debate” - my faculties are clearly beginning to fail.

I’m pretty sure one of the people wearing Eau de Cyanide is also one of the three having a lid debate about which Eurovision entrant should have one, including playing the entries they support on their phones.
I am beginning to hope that death comes soon.

So, “surely it’s easy to add an edit button?”
Yes, it’s easy. But dealing with the implications needs to be considered. How do you want editing to work? What implications does that have?

Consider the fact that an utterly made up story about a former British prime minister and a pig is still cited widely in social media even though it’s well know to be untrue.

Or should we keep a history of all the edits so that when it looks like people have agreed with something back they have a hope of defending themselves by pointing at the history. Notwithstanding that a rumour gets halfway around the world before the truth has got its boots on.

Or shall we not show the post for a fixed time (say 5 minutes) except to the person who posted it, during which time they can edit it?

So what if somebody posts something that loads of people like and repost and reply “Yes I completely agree with this” to, and then change it so that it says something entirely different and bad?
Oh, you do want that to happen.
So shall we not allow edits if there are any likes, reposts or replies?

It was epic. Schiff is not given to playing pieces as fast as some pianists, and his articulation and expression is amazing.

No. I’m at @wigmore-hall.org.uk again to hear the mighty András Schiff playing Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.

We have a few 20MPH zones around where I live in Surrey. The people behind me really don’t like it when I slow down to 20. The degree to which they don’t like it seems proportional to the size of their car.

Yes. I used to do extra work for the BBC and other TV companies when I was a teenager and did a couple of nightclub scenes.
They played the music for 10 seconds or so so that everybody synced up, then cut it while the conversation happened, while we all carried on bopping about, slowly losing sync.

To be clear, I’m not being ironic or sarcastic. I am genuinely impressed by the things I said in my first paragraph.

Yes. The fact that it can interpret the question that’s being asked, often in a fairly sloppy way, and come up with grammatically correct sentences, arranged coherently in a way that appears to be providing a good answer, is actually astonishing.
It’s just unfortunate that it’s so often wrong.

Yup. And the reflex “I’m writing some JavaScript/Java. Start with React/SpringBoot.”
I genuinely think some Javascript/Java devs don’t know that you can write a JavaScript /Java app without React/SpringBoot.
