I went out of my way to ride around on the car-free portion just because I could. It was super busy. People were having a great time. Almost every chair was full. Kids and doggos everywhere! A photo without many people in it was difficult. #ParkwaysForPeople

Once again, you and I are in the same area, but didn't cross paths! I passed this Superstar Combo as well!

The number of spots on Scott that are being re-done AGAIN. It's such a waste of money. Why redesign the street without thinking about near-future ground work that might be needed??

It's now at 55. Proceed with caution.

Looks like the AQHI for Halifax is 61 right now. Ottawa is 68. It's remarkably better than it's been, but I'm gonna keep the windows closed anyway. Which I hate, cuz the temp is lovely.

In my case, it's sparkling transportation, since the only time I get to use it now is for Saturday commutes to work. I'm not getting up at the crack of 8am on a Sunday just to ride on KZM. I have coffee to drink and a deck to sit on.

Hahaha good one

Omg it would be a very comfortable 6ish hours to Halifax. I'd choose that over air travel every damn time.

Unironically: won't someone please think of the children? I grew up in Bedford, my Mom wouldn't drive me anywhere, so if I wanted to go somewhere, I walked or rode my bike. I always had to ride on the sidewalk when I left my neighbourhood. (Except for the time I rode all the way to Waverley!)

I believe we find the animal for whom the need and benefit is mutual. Animal soul mates, if you will.

Glad I got one in there on time! Lol!

Well I'm glad it was closed for a GOOD reason.

Omg this story was shared on FB today, I read some comments, one person actually asked how the smoke could be worse here than closer to the fires. Apparently some people don't know how wind and air currents work!!! 🀯🀣

I emailed the mayor, and then forwarded the email to clerks. Happy to help in any way I can.
comment in response to post
Not that it will help much, but I just sent the mayor an email expressing my disappointment.

Yeah, it hiked up right around 6pm. From 80 to 160 in less than 2 hours by the site I checked. Yuck.

Fully expected to pass @justginottawa.bsky.social along the River with a resounding high five this morning.

It really hits home when you see images like this. (Or try to move outside for longer than 15 mins)

I am the only person I've seen wearing a mask outside in the past 48 hours. I doubt the general populace even own good masks anymore.
comment in response to post
I did just over half the ride from work to the group ride without a mask, finally I had to stop to put one on, my throat felt gross. Memories of last year, and I don't like it one bit.
comment in response to post
Oh absolutely. I wore a mask for 2/3 of my riding time tonight. My lungs are much happier for it.
comment in response to post
I dunno, but it's gross out.

I use the weather network app for basic stuff, then I search other sites for more specific info. It took half a day for TWN to update the air quality.

Same, but it's worse today, looks like. Miss Charlie Tuna is fed up with the closed windows already.

The red light running is rampant. Maybe if drivers would put their phones away so they could see the lights... πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Tbf I encounter very few large groups riding on MUPs, the issue my friend brought up and that I commented on is the singles or 2-3 riders. The larger groups I do see are usually seniors, or kids in summer daycamps. Then a lack of speed can be an issue! Lol
