1. We rue the day "wokeness" entered the vernacular; 2. Entire world should be concerned abt potential House of Trump redux (except other authoritarian regimes, his fantasy friends); 3. Ever since Boris & Brexit UK has been on a tear & very un-Britannia-like. Can any one thing be seen as catalytic?

Start putting them in Little Free Library boxes all over the place. Homeless shelters. Retirement communities. USO lounges. Randomly leave at every doctor's visit or restaurant loo.

First ep in series will allow to be a bit dodgy. There is a lot of heavy lifting, typically, going on in first 45-60 mins or whatever. Working through a few HBO series on Binge-O-Matic rt now & some older movies that have not been available elsewhere, but always looking for worthwhile The Next One

Have heard this from a number of ppl. How many seasons are there? This is on AppleTV, yes?

of course-- meant that in addition to other major buyers here but the largest even says expressly on their website that they don't want photos or evaluations etc. -- they want a list and depending on what it is, to see it, of course. Locally they will come to your place but that doesn't help you

DC area has huge book purchasers (not surprising) even for entire estates etc. but that still involves human eye being onsite. So it looks like one thing is safe from AI for now!

I am in a v walkable environment, which was one of the main criteria for this location, and the ONLY thing that has zero representation is an actual drug store, even in a five mile radius. I can get to whatever is inside of grocery stores, so I don't mean can't get Rx- just not the full Monty

right, for the full Darth Vader runway look. Also: paint respirators vs respirators.

thanks; yes, I do know the difference/s. Sometimes the surgical masks have a v specific purpose for me. Should have separated that into two tweets or BSs or whatever these are called :)

yes- just read in WSJ today CVS is closing another 400 stores- idk if you are in Duane Reed/RiteAid turf or what, but that is a lot fewer places to buy run out items in person. Drug stores in MCO have everything under the sun (see what I did there) for Disney peeps but i know you want it beforehand

wre you able to find a place that purchased books online? I looked but it was a hard term for searching w/o investing a chunk of time bc Goog kept trying to force me to purchase someone else's books online

have you tried buying them online? I have a lot of disposables (regular surgical type, not N95) I purchased from Amazon I think. I have zero resistance to anything right now, and since there has been such a backlash to vaccines of all kinds, even whooping cough and measles are back. No thanks.

And I always remember Julia said that a hamburger was quite honestly one of her favourite things to eat. There is an episode of Julia & Jacques (her show with what now seems a downright youthful Jacques Pepin) where they make one together and it is one of my fave episodes- she loves it so much.

I make all of those things, because I love to cook, to appreciate the food and the source, etc. But to me the meal means something, perhaps, than it does to some countrymen, where it is instead something to just be gotten through and over with and on to the next task. Not me. I am a lingerer. :)

I learnt a lot abt American eating habits during Covid. Namely, how little actual cooking takes place, and how many meals are either takeaway or similar-- not going out in the same way as in EU, where socialising etc. is intrinsic point as well as the food.

I think we could say most people are just fine with them. I think most food in the US could stand a make-over. A delicious burger, a lovely roasted chicken, excellent eggs--the simple things -- are v hard to find. And forget coffee, bread, or chocolate. But that's another matter entirely.

Oh, I do understand that. But even a 20USD burger in US is nowhere near comparable to those for 16-20EU. And the lovely bun puts them further from contention.

I am sure the "American Burger" is much better than pretty much any burger sold in the US. They all look marvelous.

i actually miss that life cycle and serendipity. I just see landfill material going out 3x/week on pickup days. People just must have incredible amounts of STUFF

is this like living downtown, where 'taking to the curb' is like the neighbourhood Help Yourself counter?

Library idea is a good one. Since it is not new-new, my library actually has 2 e-book copies available, but 28 are checked out. So definitely still plenty of interest. Did not look at HC version. Cheney's book (Liz, not Dick) is on my list as well, & that is not a sentence I thought I'd ever write.

Started it & then it got commandeered :) She is doing something, Just can't remember what. Think it was mentioned on MSNBC. Worth reading but not purchasing. Not written that well, although info it contains is of course fascinating. Had to keep remembering how incredibly *young* she is/was.

and those thoughts are separate from my opinion of her book, which is different. Glad she was able to get different representation though; company store attorneys have one entity's interest in mind and typically they are not those of the person who is not signing the check.

She gives me hope for the future of that party and for our democracy writ large. Probably one of the most incredibly credible witnesses that could have been on that stage. What a tumult her [young] life had to absorb. Another of TFG's victims, really. Hope the scales level out for her.

Ah, that makes sense. Hadn't thought of ARCs as perqs of bookstore folks before, but, sure, duh. I absolutely ADORE my LFLs-- have run into so many books I would otherwise not have hoarded, I mean, picked up :)

So am in agreement :)
