I love this. The point isn't really to intentionally write poorly (as another commenter seemed to suggest), just to let it be ok to make mistakes, to find the mistakes, and to accept that it's part of learning to write good code. No one starts their journey without ever making mistakes!

I've started hosting a weekly Friends and Neighbors Dinner, which has opened up connections I never expected. My kiddo's preschool is hosting a Share and Swap at an Open House next month. I feel so refreshed to have in-person connections with real people and lighter, knowing we can share the load.

Right? @joshwcomeau.com does some incredible stuff. He's about to release a course on how to do it. I'm stoked!

Washington State stands up against Trump. Listen to our Governor tell Trump we will not allow him to use financial threats to make us abandon DEI, reproductive rights, transgender rights or to allow him to illegally remove immigrant workers. Other states should follow this. youtu.be/3wFBW7CKtBk

The difference between “nice” and “kind”: Nice is doing something to avoid upset or offense. Kind is doing something out of empathy and/or compassion.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that just a bit of salt with maybe 2-3 bay leaves adds a very nice touch to lentils. This renewed my interest in bay leaves considerably. But yes, veggie bouillon flavors nicely, too!

😓 I made a report suggesting that there’s a correction to be made. They’ve clearly made a mistake in the information about the Gulf of Mexico.

Yikes. Was hoping Apple would hold out. Almost thought they had until I clicked on Gulf of Mexico. Ugh. Not the best look, Apple.

When you know you don’t understand but can still empathize, you’ve found compassion!

Wow! There are so many ways people can see colors, and this tool helps illustrate that in a very clear way with explanations and visuals. This is going straight into my toolkit. Thanks for sharing!!

Goodness, I had no idea there was a #breadsky or that I needed it in my life. Thank you! 😆

Thank you for sharing this! I'm getting my networking feet back under me after years of focusing almost exclusively on raising my young kiddo. Looking forward to Jobuary with @leonnoel.bsky.social this afternoon! I can already feel the positive energy Leon and #100devs generates. I've missed this!

I've started this with my kiddo who turns 3 next month. First steps of learning how to wash produce, chop, and fry potatoes and "kini" (zucchini). Kiddo freaking LOVED it. Didn't eat the potatoes, but did eat a few kini slices. And we had some "us" time to start the day.

I love @leonnoel.bsky.social's inspiring, compassionate community building style and I'm stoked to finally have the childcare coverage to make the time happen. Let's go!

Oogenesis in humans typically starts 8-20 weeks post implantation. Spermatogenesis in humans typically starts at puberty. So, technically, that Executive Order defines us all as asexual neuter. Hope that helps.

My kiddo started skipping naps around the same time as bedtimes elongating like that. Bedtimes got much shorter…but evenings have gotten more…tender. It’s a weird stage. I wish you ease in this awkward time. Sending solidarity. A big positive: these “regressions” often pair with developmental leaps!
