It’s funny I think the one thing Dubas has yet to prove is that he can get a competent goaltending in this league
comment in response to post
Oh 100% agree. And you’re right he did wait too long. But I do think KD did come around to trading Marner and that’s ultimately what cost them any shot at this
comment in response to post
I think he wanted to. One of the things I remember hearing once KD was gone is that Shanahan called the core four and assured them all they weren’t going anywhere.

And Wayne Simmonds contract was 900K for 2 years. Hard to say overpayment there
comment in response to post
Actually come to think of it, Dubas didn’t give Jack Campbell his contract either. He let him walk to Edmonton.

Treliving gave kampf his latest contract fyi
comment in response to post
I know every gm has hits and misses. My personal issue is the contracts he’s given out to some of the forward depth. Gave domi term when domi hasn’t had term from 7 other teams. Gave kampf term as well. And then gave a 36 year old reaves a 3-year contract for vibes.

Ohhh got it. Yeah I literally only read/listen to the local beat guys. No point in giving any time to grifters

What am I missing here?

Agreed 100%. Personally I’m done blaming the players completely. Two front offices and two coaches kept 34/16 together. Can’t keep only blaming the players when nothing changes deployment-wise
comment in response to post
I’d imagine Matthews can’t play bc of whatever mystery injury he has. And technically Mitch just became a father so I’d give him a pass this year tbh.

Pretty sure it was part of a package that didn’t include Marner. Thought there were two different offers
comment in response to post
What I’m saying is they spent up on those guys for the retention part as well. Boston retained on Carlo and Philly retained on Laughton. I’d guess that part of the return would have been slightly less had they not needed retention on those players

Exactly. I’m happy to criticize the leafs deadline. I did! But sitting here and comparing the two teams deadlines seems silly. 34 should have been on LTIR and we all know it. Had he been on LTIR the leafs might be able to go in a different direction with their targets
comment in response to post
Plus, I don’t think the panthers have the cap space to fit both jones and Marchand if tkachuk doesn’t also get hurt and placed on LTIR
comment in response to post
Not sure they’d have been able to fit everything in without the LTIR from tkachuk. The reason the leafs paid higher prices was so they could fit those guys in under the cap.

Ironically he fanned on it. But yes, he was fairly good tonight

The. There’s the obvious other example of the Buffalo rebuild that scares me

I always thought it was his oblique or lat tear. He doesn’t seem to be able to torque himself like he has in the past
comment in response to post
This was so weird watching live when he did the evil villain finger-tip touch
comment in response to post
Atlanta could also grab a qb here…
comment in response to post
This just seems really weird

Thought I saw somewhere that he may have to wait until the playoffs due to his visa or whatever but who knows

Bc the the score dictates it

If it means no Benoit, then I’m here for it

For which team…

Any guesses?

Maybe it’s just me, but I also don’t want the leafs to mentally coast in the 1st round against potentially the senators and think they are saving it for the next round (see Montreal in the Covid year)
comment in response to post
They don’t. Which is why I’m pretty positive they win somehow win two rounds this year lol
comment in response to post
Almost like Keefe knew what he was doing with this group (at least in the regular season)
comment in response to post
Him and nylander don’t mesh well together on a line. Both need to be puck carrier and it’s harder for Marner to feed off of nylander that way
comment in response to post
Can’t be easy being rielly’s partner. Feels like he routinely needs to be babysat and that’s not what you want when you’re paying 7.5M

Plus didn’t they extend his void date (and couldn’t tag him) so they can re-work the void years?
