12 Days

Not trying to be mean, but the irony there was too much for me to handle.

My everyday earworm is Lin Manuel Miranda singing "You must take the A train," as I daily take the A train.

College Commitment Day + a Countdown

My student workers are so much better than me at this. While I wait and pray for my book room, I am grateful they saved me once again.

A non-exhaustive thread of books that I, an English teacher person, would joyfully sign for your child instead of that Seuss book. This is not a dig at parents- I just want to help you pick a better book. 🧡

The NYPL flag is a reminder that I have home in every neighborhood.

It's really that time of year where I could go to bed at 7pm and it still wouldn't be enough.

I wish books came with a LAST TIME ON (TITLE) synopsis thingy at the beginning like on TV. Very excited about new book, but I also can't remember what exactly happened in the last one.

I did not take any photos or videos of my little trip or the store, but I went to The Fountain Bookshop in Washington Heights today on my way home from school. My new little book and ice cream treat may have cured my raging PMS.

My time to shine and my time to nap occupy the same space.

The 35 bus is an illusion

Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey. They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧡

I'd be surprised about the whole boat/bridge thing, except I've seen too many delusional people try to move in furniture to tiny nyc apartments, myself included.

the ai cycle: this will do things on it's own this will do things with human supervision well if we have a human go over everything it does we'll save some money turns out it actually can't do anything

Not me picking random times to schedule send emails and texts so people don't think I'm weird. 7:06am it is...

β€œIs this practice aligned with healthy child development?”, as @tinafarr.bsky.social asks, is a question that would improve school experiences and outcomes for kids exponentially more than most questions we ask about "what works" to teach content.

I am calling the 2025-2026 school year my No Chromebook Era and I won't be taking any questions.

I worry we are going to look back at the 2020's as the decade we talked way too much about phones in schools + way too little about the % of time students spend staring at a Chromebook screen in classrooms.

As a teacher of seniors, I often wonder- do they want to study psychology because they want to study psychology... or do they just want therapy (or someone in their life to get therapy)?

Live a little dangerously, swap that tomato paste for some harissa. You're welcome.

Expanding on a thought I had: In 10 years, I believe we’re going to see an discouraging amount of folks from marginalized backgrounds who don’t know how to function without AI because so many in education believed they could circumvent teaching thinking and skills.

My son in his latest letter from bootcamp says he'd kill for a book. Oh how things change. 🀣

Today's weather is the kind my nyc fantasy life is built on. It is almost never this perfect, but these one or two perfect days a year keep me here.

I can really track my descent into flu and uneven recovery in @thestorygraph.com 😭🀣😭

I asked a veteran teacher to expound on a practice they had posted about. I wanted to try it myself. Their response was so flippant and dismissive that I left wondering if they have actually ever done it.

My mother made lemonade with no lemons. Every time I perform Coat of Many Colors I think of her and remember that since I have been given so much, I have a responsibility to keep giving because she gave everything out of the very little she had.

@mta.info the way my omny doesn't work on a regular basis feels like a scam.
