To plug gaps in the short term, you're going to use less water, leaks will be fixed (so they say!) & sadly more water will be taken from rivers, lakes, esp during drought.
Pipelines and reservoirs are planned to meet the deficits further out but these will take some sweet time to materialise. 2/4

We need to reuse all our water, but before we can do that we need stronger regulations on what can be put in it. Now it is a dangerous mixture of chemicals and micro plastics that will contaminate the areas it is used on.

Rain water should never be directed to sewers or rivers, we are starving the aquifers. Water capture combined with soak away drains have been shown to recharge ground water and aquifers.
