It’s not selfish at all. Mental health is connected to our whole physical health, we need to recover. Hope you feel better.

Is there anything on birth and postnatal support?

it’s not good to see it is. I think a flower shop does sound like a great idea though!

I am wondering what the impact is for people with ADHD who may be seeking constant dopamine.

yes definitely, I did some work at Citizens Advice few years ago on ways to support people to apply for PIP. the process is very broken and confusing, lots of appeals end up successful as well. if you 'speed' that up you will increase failure demand massively i think.

I think for orgs with a CEO and usual decision making process that isn’t bottom up collaborative then yes they should just do it now. I do think it’s clear on many levels. Usually I would say ask users of a community but not in this case.

I have moved to Worthing in Sussex, I think 1 day a week in London would be my preference but I have a young son. My husband wfh 4 days makes a big difference to family life. it’s not cheapest place to live but much more affordable than London. my parents are closer which is a big help.

also love that there is a crèche, though we don’t need it as my son is staying at home with dad as it’s a weekend.

this is such sad news, so shocking to read this. sending love to all her friends and family. I followed her for years and never met her but learnt so much.

Good for Anne! I got laid off during maternity leave in July, extra time with my son and we’re moving to live by the sea this week. I am returning to work soon but feel glad to have not returned to my old job despite all the uncertainty. I was ready for a change.

very depressing coverage. my local trust has over 50% c section rate but zero home births some months. I think increase in inductions inc sweeps, fewer staff, not giving mums time to birth. most first time mums I’ve met had c section or instrumental birth yet there’s barely any postnatal support.

I’m moving to Worthing next week so I am going to book if I can make it. Thanks for the code!

Working in an innovation lab for 5 years (before it closed down this year) we did our best work when working with others and involving service teams, however lots of challenges which need to be worked through in time. ‘move at the speed of trust’ and all that.

and the second example of the pilot of increasing access for disadvantaged families for early years support, this really needs to be rooted in local community and people who know these families already. so parachuting in a ‘crack team’ doesn’t sound great to me!

yes same, I was wondering who are in these teams and where are they from? the example of the pilot on reducing costs of temporary accommodation, it’s not a simple problem to solve and people are trying to work on this already. will they learn from existing work?

also it’s hard to see progress in the moment but if you look back to where you were even a few months ago, have you made progress even if it feels slow?
comment in response to

if everyone in the team is for it then that sounds really positive. can you try some small experiments in ways of working that would help you reach your goals? Reflecting what doesn’t work now eg causing re work and how you can try something else?

who has identified the need? I think giving people the chance to be exposed to this sort of working gradually and see benefits while making it work for them, deciding how best and tweaking as it goes. giving people autonomy to shape it rather than top down

the other thing with PIP is often people are refused first time but are successful on appeal, often with help from advisers, maybe as the form wasn’t filled in correctly first time. so in theory people knowing more at start could actually *save money* so people can get what they are entitled to.
comment in response to
post
I’ve done research with people applying for PIP and it’s incredibly complicated and often people delay doing their application and need lots of help from CA advisers who can’t meet demand. if people share their experiences eg on tik tok it could mean people make a start before getting help from CA.

because she speaks up and makes changes so lots of vested interests will be lobbying against her behind the scenes. I thought she seemed to making progress, I like that she acted on euston station screens quickly for example.

one of my favourite collaborations in my old job was with a content designer it was great. I don’t think content designers are valued enough.
