“Peace be with you”? Really? What are you doing for peace to “be with” people? How are you standing up to and speaking out against the hostility and harm coming from the Trump regime? Please explain how you are actively advocating for peace, Senator.

You being offended is a perfect example of what he likely hates. And it’s not prejudice, it’s based on his ACTUAL (firsthand) lived experience. You spending even a moment being offended, embarrassed, or distraught only makes the harm of racism worse.

Racism is not hate. I am a white woman. I don’t have hatred for Black people yet I contribute to racism against Black people every single day. I acknowledge this and continuously work to bring light to the racism in myself and in others.

Seriously? Just an ounce of self-reflection would help you to understand what J is saying. If, “Maybe we hate you too” is your first response to his original post, then you are clearly the white person he wrote it for. Way to stand up and raise your hand high.

Hate isn’t what got us here. Racism got us here —centuries-old racism, and days-old racism. There’s a difference between hate and racism. Once you understand that you’ll understand a lot more.

Ann, you might very likely be speaking to a Black person here. Your comments are inappropriate and have a potentially harmful impact.

While you don’t owe a single person any explanation, thank you for making it clear so those of us who hear stupid comments can address them accurately.

I came across this today and it reminded me of your inquiry (still reflecting and learning-unlearning) www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2GRbruh/

Thank you for this

Perhaps Black people are saying this because 1. You mean it, 2. You’re always taking the lead, 3. You’re rightfully exhausted, 4. You didn’t cause this, and 5. You know (better than we do) who created these racist systems and who is responsible for dismantling them.

I see. I see how each of my answers center whiteness.

I’ve been thinking lately that white people don’t know struggle and sacrifice the way Black and Native people do. It’s not “in us” at the cellular and historical level the way it is for you all. Does this make sense? I’m trying to articulate what’s in my head as I continue to learn and unlearn.

Because white ppl (our actions and inactions) got us here. This time— and each and every time in the past.

Have you seen the maps?

Yes yes, all of this! I was sharing for others to know, not specifically for you. Completely agree with you.

When Google Maps Apple Maps and Waze all changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, it really was quite ridiculous and I no longer put my trust in them.

My husband has been the Costco shopper for years. Because I used to be the Target shopper, I am now figuring out navigating the overstimulation of Costco— the buzz and the lights. But I’m making progress. I’m a sensory-avoider and get overwhelmed quickly so I don’t like to spend too much time there.

While it’s a start that it’s sinking in, it (systemic racism) is immeasurably bigger than your example. I just now read through where this started. You said some problematic things earlier. It would serve you (and others) to go back to the beginning and reflect at each point you spoke.

There’s a difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation. Buying and reading a Black woman’s book— appreciation.

Something to consider, speaking of “ fatigue”— the way Jay Perk replied to you. You think he might be fatigued— as in sick and tired of us doing what we do without end? He was not being a dick. He’s unapologetically and wholeheartedly tired of our collective and individual abuse. Ponder that.
