This project was a collaboration with @cruzf.bsky.social, who visited my lab at Princeton as an international PhD student. A reminder that science is richer and better when we work together - it makes the US richer and better, too. Check out our paper for more! doi.org/10.1038/s415...

the other side of this is that the Times will run little focus groups and conceal the fact that half of them are active college republicans

the mainstream media has been steadily buying into the idea that science and academia are somehow "captured" by left and liberal ideologues, rather than the more obvious explanation that measured analysis leads people away from reactionary thought

Though I expected this, it's still galling, and a complete health disaster. This committee, from a preliminary look, seems unlikely to recommend any vaccinations, and this will lead to a huge number of deaths from preventable illnesses.

Also--& @katharinehayhoe.com addresses this in the newsletter--that question is often coming from people whose real Q is, "Does my life as I know it have to end?" & the real answer is often yeah, it might! Your life *as you know it* might not be just or right to continue, or might become impossible

unfortunately after using inaturalist for years, i will have no other choice but to stop unless you backtrack on this and decide not to use AI. i will not waste my time asking for inaccurate identification from tech that destroys the environment I love. this is worse than useless, it's harmful.

This is deeply disappointing. I really love inaturalist and I don’t want to stop using it. Please don’t do this.

This is such a good explainer! Thank you all -- if anyone has a moment, could you post it also with alt text so we can share for wider accessibility? Thank you thank you

And state violence is also rounding up homeless ppl, firing ppl en masse, cutting Medicaid and SNAP, and outlawing healthcare like abortions. That’s more egregious violence than anything we’ve ever seen in all protests against the state in U.S. history combined
