Been here since the invite only days. Here because this is the new public square. I work on a help desk (IT). I'm more active on the Fediverse ("Mastodon").

One of my dreams is to travel by rail, but it will never happen with these ridiculous prices.

I think I remember down in the States women tended to vote Democrat and men Republican, I could be wrong. First thought that came to mind is how this mirrors US voting patterns.

Too many people think a platform or a tool should be and do everything instead of having it do fewer things really well.

I do like the game, don't get me wrong. I would be disappointed though if they remastered it before the others lol.

Tony Hawk's Underground or Even Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 would be huge. THPS3 was pretty meh.

I'm always weirded out when people like American Wasteland. It had some of the worst levels for doing combos in, and I've played almost all of them.

Doing the same thing, except on Mastodon.

Same thing said over and over from these people and in the same ways, pretty convinced it's a bot farm everyone. It's either that or they are super susceptible to group think.

There isn't a "master" feed so you have to follow people or Feeds (just public lists). It's very similar to ye 'ol Twitter except with really good moderation tools.

I like Death Stranding too. For some reason this post made it's way into the "Extremism in Canada" feed 😆

This is an interesting idea. I don't know if SMS is "extensible" in that way or not. Though I doubt people would put the work in as they already came out with RCS.

They are afraid to lose their followers and reach that they built over years. It has to be out of selfish reasons at this point (even if that reason is laziness).

This is actually a good idea. Matrix has something similar.

Yep. It has one big advantage over Signal, in that you don't have to use a phone number to sign up for an account, it's ACTUALLY anonymous. It also has one big disadvantage, most people aren't willing to pay a penny for an app nowadays.

I agree, but two problems: (a) most people don't know what that is and (b) we need service providers for it that allow easy sign up to foster adoption which isn't likely to happen.

It's because SMS isn't secure. There's a whole Mr. Robots episode where the plot relies on them intercepting SMS messages.

I am also curious about this.

Substack was already long ago marked as a platform that doesn't deny or moderate Nazi's using it. So this isn't a surprise. What does surprise me is how many people continue to support that platform. Then again, seeing what happened with X and Facebook I guess I shouldn't be.

Won't believe this is real unless I see the link to the actual post.

Not defending Threads but Starter Packs are just public "recommended list." Lists are as old as dirt and are on other social networks. It solves a UX problem sure but it's not as groundbreaking as people keep making them out to be.
