This post brought to you by Mauril, which has convinced me that our francophones are the hillbillies of French (complimentary, but also gods have mercy on my soul)

Sometimes I stare at pictures like this for a while and then the scale of it hits me and I bluescreen like the people in Asimov's Nightfall

Think of all the costs they've cut though! Games are expensive!
(MBA accounting is the literal devil)

Funny how the reward seems to only go up but the risks only seem to trickle down
Be nice if it wasn't all-cost-no-benefit for the people who actually do the work

Sea of Stars is definitely worth the time, and I say this as a huge DOOM fan from all the way back

Sadly, from what I've seen, the other 50% is just dumb luck.

Has anyone calculated how much economic loss comes from private equity just blasting away random companies, in terms of lost jobs, scrapped inventories, unused buildings, environmental damage, monopoly concentration amongst remaining competitors, etc.?

this shit should be illegal. just walking away from your debt by assigning it to a company you don't own and which will never be able to pay it.

...and every 10 degrees is an outfit change.
Whereas Celsius it's more like:
- below zero: parka
- above zero: shorts
(maybe that's just a Canada thing?)

It's actually quite reasonable if you need to house a large extended or polyamorous family, a commune, or a small cult.

I remember very vividly watching Colin Powell making his presentation to the UN and thinking, "Wait, THAT'S all they have? OH NO."

To the OP's point: a lot of politics assumes people are stupid and irrational but most social science says that they're quite rational within the frameworks imposed on them.
The moment liberals in power give up on actively fighting to make things better is the moment the Right wins.

Jesus, girl. Nobody deserves to be alone.
You're clearly personable and funny - is there any way we can get you out of the house and with other humans in meatspace? I'm pretty sure the right crowd would love you.

Allegedly, the updated version is even better.

Gosh my backlog is already murdering me.
Sometimes I think I should take a vacation from XIV just so I can finish all of the other games I have to play 😭

Oh wait, no, that was Chronicles 3, the one that just came out!
I have NOT played X!
Maybe I will try it?

I did play a bunch of it, though I felt like the story and gameplay bogged down significantly after it went from a tactical fantasy RPG to a tactical mecha RPG.
I assume there was a nice story payoff eventually but got that feeling it was gonna be another 100 hours of JRPG bullshit to get there.

Oh yeah, XIII-2 is definitely it's own special thing. Wild game. FFXIII's battle system, but you get to capture monsters and use them as your third party member. Much better exploration. Lots of weird timey-wimey bullshit. A+.

I loved the exploration and the danger.
Like, the first time you cast a spell and an elemental that was like 20 levels higher than you got pissed? Absolute chef's kiss design.
I feel like it was one of the last (non-Fromsoft) games where they let you just blunder into a high level area and die.

They were SO BAD
And the 20+ hours of completely on-rails gameplay didn't help.
(Though, arguably X had that too; it was just much better written.)

XIII-2 was the doomed love story
(and the part where you discover that Fang and Vanille only sorta kinda temporarily saved the world)
comment in response to
post
Oh no, that's from regular XIII
Which was by all rights a pretty bad game.
XIII-2 was good, and then Lightning Returns was... incredibly weird?

The part about it that I loved was that it felt like an MMO but without the other people

Hey, that's not fair!
sometimes a final fantasy is a feel-good homoerotic boy band road trip and sometimes a final fantasy is two lesbians saving the world* by being forced to relive horrifying past trauma while babysitting a bunch of idiots
* ish

My understanding is that FFXV, if you play all the DLCs, actually tells a really nice story.
