Loving the recommendation of 'Revolutions', thank you for that!
I've also got a copy of Octavia Butler's 'Blood Child' thanks to the recent recommendation too!
Realms Unknown really is improving my quality of life through great recommendations!

This is genuinely insane... what's next? Levy on hospitals?

The recent room temperature superconductivity paper was a great example of this. The methods section was not at all enough information to reproduce the results. All that press attention built on shaky foundations!
Likewise recent news story about biosigs on an exoplanet (data analysis methods)

This is my monstera - it likes the temperature controlled office and triple glazing! The humidity in Glasgow is basically always high. 55-97% or something like that in my flat!

Yeah but it's been sunny for a few weeks on end here, very unusual! Plus I had the air-con up high in my office (only by a few degrees) so my tropical houseplants would grow better :)

How old was the building? I believe these windows have been in place for around 12-13 years. This side of the building gets direct sub most of the day and it's been really warm and sunny in Glasgow.
Did they ever nail down a cause?

For those of you who don't recognise it, this is the lecture theatre at @ri-science.bsky.social. I was climbing above the same stage where sodium was announced in 1807, the electron was announced in 1897, and Faraday shared his theory of electromagnetism!

Thank you! There's some Facebook groups with people who have been collecting for decades. From them, I've found out it's a set by Ludochovice in Czechia. www.glasstrinketsets.com/cms3/czechos...

Great article, really interesting stuff and clearly needed in the field considering scale of investment required for ever more powerful colliders.
Also to say, I love the quote “If I were a billionaire, this is 100% what I would fund.” I've gotta try fitting that into my life sometime.
