1) is definitely 100% finding the people who know how it currently works. I've been ping ponged around between teams for weeks with everyone telling me they don't implement anything. They're just passing around data between services and "there's no performance issue on my side"

I've designed and implemented extra pages (for myself, so I have any visibility into the data at all) before because, honest to God, I am convinced nobody cares about how debuggable etc things are. It's incredibly frustrating that I have to go out on my own to make things more doable

Project loom has (more or less) landed, spring has already rebuilt its concurrency on top of it

I find the structured concurrency stuff they have pretty interesting, if you wanna play with stuff that is in preview value classes are pretty cool

I find it hard to judge. The languages I work in are only kind of dynamically typed, and I don't have much interest in exploring software design/architecture that exploits the dynamism he seems to love.

Maybe it's an "enterprise software" thing, but I've gotten bit too many times by packages (some of them from msft) just flat out lying about the nullability of members/return types to not check null

I regret to have to do this, I sincerely did not want to come to this, but if you were more careful with your words, it could be avoided. Anyway, hi free. I'm lexa.

Depends, sometimes your specific sql dialect has a feature that you don't *need* but is more performant, concise, subjectively readable etc. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see the value in avoiding dialect specific features

I can't say I've ever seen anyone in the field care about or get by by not caring about writing standards compliant sql, seems like preparing for the "what if we change db" case

Sql is not *that* portable unfortunately, especially once you want to do anything more complex
