Yet another transphobe now feeling safe to come out as anti-abortion too. www.thenational.scot/news/2519525...

I remember some very sensible people telling me abortion would never be under threat in the UK the same way it happened in the US.

Wake-up call… Lincolnshire has suffered some of the worst flooding in its history in recent years Lincolnshire’s newly elected Reform council has abolished the flooding committee This is who they are Please wake up to this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

You can only presume that Trump & his cronies make an absolute killing every time the markets balk at his latest tariff tantrum. And another one when he inevitably backs down. Jimmy Carter putting the family peanut farm in a blind trust for the duration of his Presidency feels very, very far away.

Esther de Lange, "He has made sure that two of his children have German passports" When Nigel Farage objects to a UK-EU Youth Mobility Scheme, he wants his children to travel freely around the UK and EU, but he doesn't want your children to enjoy the same right

Nigel Farage missed Keir Starmer's Commons statement on the UK-EU Summit earlier this week. He's now missing today's Westminster Hall debate on the summit. Because just a few days before parliamentary recess, he's on holiday. (Which is his 10th trip abroad at least since the general election).

Women can submit anything from a four-line poem to a 3,000-word lead article, from a 300-word bedtime story to a 700-word memoir performance piece – they publish over 60 women in every issue. Deadline 7th July. Details in link. Please share :)

“The Columbia footage that we subpoenaed conclusively proves that Mahmoud never attempted to run from the ICE agents, that the government lied once again, & that there was no valid reason for the arrest of a US permanent resident and human rights defender” - Ramzi Kassem to @premthakker.bsky.social

Astonishing evidence at the Covid Inquiry. The Government repeatedly ignored offers from the Crick Institute to provide mass testing on a national scale. Instead, the Government paid Deloitte consultants to project manage, not yet established, privately run labs. 1/2

"I was worth my six-figure bonus, says under-fire Thames Water boss." And now @thameswater's customers will understand why their bills have just gone up 35%.

This really can’t be pointed out enough

In 2015 David Cameron privatised the National Fostering Agency, it's now being paid £160m a year straight to a New Jersey tax haven to manage the fostering of just 2,616 children A tax free profit of £61,000 per child, and they don't even provide any care, that's the fosters job

Confronted with a choice of cutting taxes for second homes owners or funding eg youth clubs for working class kids Farage chooses... 👇🏻

After asset stripping England water companies warn of rationing. 35 reservoirs sold for £26m profit. Southern Water plan to decommission 43 of 93 reservoirs, build one. 1 trillion litres lost through leaky pipes. Companies have 1,135 criminal convictions. End the privatisation scam.

And re-wet the vast areas of peat that cover the high moor, which have been badly degraded by drainage, swaling & overgrazing - and become dominated by fire-prone molinia (purple moor grass) as a result ‘Make Dartmoor Wet Again’ bsky.app/profile/geor...

The vast fire on #Dartmoor should alert us to the ecological disaster there. This should not be a fire-prone landscape. Were it not for the elimination of trees by grazing, the vegetation type on the high moor would be temperate rainforest, which is extremely hard to burn. But only specks remain.

An absolute masterclass in how the UK media platforms and normalises far right politics. This is how Farage wins.

‘Trump’s meme coin soars after he asks top 220 holders to dinner’ - this happened a week ago, possibly the single most corrupt action ever by an American President. And yet the reaction is…whatever www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Proof this guy is full of SITH.

Arron Banks came second in the West of England mayoralty, with 22% of the vote….

A 40-year-old man died from dehydration after being detained for more than two months inside the Tarrant County jail in Texas, he was one of at least three people with documented mental illness to die of thirst in the jail’s custody in recent years.

This post from Lewis Goodall a few months ago was prescient: Labour's reluctance to genuinely go on the offensive against Reform *and its policies* has got us to where we are today. And their belief that simply adopting Reform policies will protect them is naive at best, incredibly stupid at worst.

Populists are the political equivalent of hecklers shouting instructions from the touchline while the crowd bays them on. Put them on the pitch, and all they do is create havoc. They're not players. They're chaos merchants. They're not match fit. Or serious. That's Trump writ large. And Reform.

Emails released to Byline Times reveal how David Cameron helped his old Etonian school friend get to the front of the queue for COVID contracts Correspondence reveals how senior Tories leveraged their connections at the start of the pandemic bylinetimes.com/2025/05/01/d...

Please highlight this story. ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago. kfor.com/news/local/w...

Jeff Bezos, who spiked a WaPo endorsement of Harris and mugged for pictures at Trump's inauguration, wants everyone to know he does *not* bear any responsibility for this.

A company that supplied hundreds of millions of pounds of unusable COVID tests saw their profits surge to £178 million after lobbying a Conservative peer for contracts Their turnover jumped by 6800% after supplying tests which were later deemed “unfit for public use” bylinetimes.com/2025/04/28/v...

Trans women arrested Britain’s railways to be strip-searched by male officers

if I understand correctly, the campaigners wanted (in their words) to stop trans women officers with a gender recognition certificate searching women. and, in response, the police have decided to allow male officers to search trans women. not sustainable. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

This is a great read. Thank you @petergeoghegan.bsky.social I look forward to reading the book @quinnslobodian.com

Calls to cut tax on particular products ignore the reality that the benefit is usually snaffled by retailers. The cuts aren’t passed on. The evidence for this is really clear - see taxpolicy.org.uk/2023/07/12/v...

Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

I'm calling for an investigation into whether President Trump manipulated the market to benefit his Wall Street donors—all while working people and small businesses paid the price. Did Trump help insiders cash in on his tariff flip-flopping? It sure looks like corruption.

Put up by Katy Brand today - this is the story over and over again
