That being said, our government is doing the same cost cutting shit that Elon has done with DOGE such as scrapping the contract to procure new ferries for Cook Strait. They also rolled backed environmental protections via the Fast Track bill.

I think a lot of people thought Labour was getting too soft on crime as soon as the news was bombarded with headlines about ram raids. At one point you couldn't go an entire week without seeing news of a store being ram raided.

It may never get dissolved as Trump consolidates more and more power. We may see a situation like what is happening in Turkey right now where the president can arbitrarily jail someone on trumped up (pun intended) charges

Right wingers scream about the sanctity of the Constitution when they're about to have their guns taken away or have to get the jab but are silent when this is happening.

The Mexicans in the US share more in common with the US than with Mexico themselves. Those Mexicans had to learn English, even if they don't speak it most of the time.

So its perfectly okay for countries to demand integration if their dominant ethnicity lived there long enough. By that same Germany, whose native people lived there since the time of the Romans should also be allowed to demand integration.

But you still need a cohesive culture if you want a well functioning society and to do that you need to integrate them into greater society. Also integration isn't a one way street as the greater society must be generous and accepting if integration is to occur smoothly.

If I move to China, I must learn the Chinese language and respect Chinese values and customs.
If anyone moves to a host country, then they must respect the customs and values of said country even if they personally find them to be morally wrong.

11 states tried to do this in 1861 and they were crushed by the Union. What makes you think that Trump wont send in the military this time if California decides to secede.

It seems like right wing military dictatorships tend to not last long . They usually crumble or transition to democracy as soon as the guy who started it kicks the bucket.

Reminds me of a comment by literary critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki who survived the Warsaw Ghetto.
When asked what he thought of those who criticized the movie Downfall for portraying Hitler as human, he said "As what, then, should he be portrayed? An elephant or a camel?"

Letting people in willy nilly will overstretch resources needed to support them, which will hurt the migrants themselves since they wont be able to get the adequate support they need to integrate into the country.

doesn't matter if you say that you aren't a democrat, the right wingers will extrapolate your beliefs to the Democratic party as a whole.

Doesn't mean that there shouldn't be any form of border control at all. Taking in immigrants ins a good thing if done in a regulated and controlled manner but just opening the floodgates is a recipe for disaster.

These people are the reason why right wingers think that Democrats want open borders.

Multiculturalism isn't a bad idea in of itself. A multicultural society can work if different ethnicities are assimilated enough like in Singapore.

This is your regular reminder to stop treating right wingers and fascists as if they are humans.
Do not speak to them like you would speak to a human. Treat them like you would a cockroach. That's the level they want to play on, so just beat them on that level.

Last year the rightoids were spreading conspiracy theories about how Hurricane Helene was being steered by the deep state through HAARP to destroy Republican communities in the South and open up land for lithium mining for EVs.

The people of Iran rose up and yet Ayatollah is still in power
The people of Belarus rose up and yet Lukashenko is still in power.
The people of Turkey are rising up and yet it seems like Erdogan will still be in power.
We only remember revolutions that succeeded and not the ones that failed.

I don't really know myself. Violent revolution is the tool of last resort but doing so risks tearing the country apart like what happened in Syria.
