This. It hurts so much in my state knowing I can scream and scream and scream til I’m blue in the face and all I’ll get is marketing emails from these jagoffs.

This is fairly accurate and extremely informative update...... buttondown.com/wellsourced/...

I am still trying to track down the Faygo Red Pop I found because *no I am not hallucinating, I know what I saw*

"Library funding draws less than 0.003% of the annual federal budget yet has enormous impact in communities" @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social has a good FAQ about what is happening with/to IMLS; helpful as we decide what to say to our reps, what to put on our signs. www.ala.org/faq-executiv...

“Libraries translate .003% of the federal budget into programs and services used by more than 1.2 BILLION people each year.” - @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social #SaveIMLS #SaveOurLibraries

BRUUUUUUHHHHH JUST FINISHED LOWER DECKS OMGGGGGGG 😱😱😱😱

Speaking as a librarian: this is sadly very true. People want someone else to do the work for them. They do not want to learn a skill themselves. If I had a nickel for everyone who shoves their phones in my face expecting me to do their work, I could retire.

I’m actually doing a program centered around this thought next month. This is a really great point and I may use this (with citation).

You’re unique. You’re special. Remember that. Just shine.

Real talk: I was off my meds through college and a little after and I’m *still* surprised I made it out alive & in one piece. I lost *a lot* of friends and incredible opportunities, and I wouldn’t be where I am and doing what I do without meds today. I’m extremely lucky.

EVERY. GODDAMN. TIME.

me, driving in my car, using Apple Maps, listening to Spotify, making phone calls: omg did I leave my phone at home

Here it comes: what is a trusted repository in the age of fascism?

Doing library outreach in the community is amazing. We had a gentleman from Viet Nam thank us for existing. He didn’t have free libraries back home, so he was happily surprised when he visited and was told everything is free. Libraries matter.

Coming soon: a brand new selection of stickers, AND a restock of the "disapppoint your parents" stickers! I just got these in and I'm hella excited about it! #Art #GraphicDesign #MentalHealth #Becklo #ACAB #AllCatsAreBeautiful

Wish I could’ve used this for my board election photo lol

So y’all idk if you know this but those Biscoff sandwich cookies are better than Oreos and I will not be taking questions at this time

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Y’all, I promise I’ll actually post some goofy stuff once in a while. I love the library love but sometimes I just wanna fangirl or be goofy or idk say “farts” fifteen times because that’s what my brain is telling me to do right then and I wanna be ✨mature✨ but come on: farts are funny

Technology is my bread and butter. It makes up half my specialty (art and tech in public libraries). But I despise that we’re leaving so many behind as we force people to access important information behind accounts when they may not even have a smartphone. The #DigitalDivide is getting way worse.

Librarian protip: if you print tax forms at the library, make sure you know EXACTLY what form you want staff to print for you (eg, Schedule A). Staff can’t just ✨guess✨ the form you need by a vague description. This is to help you from getting the wrong info and messing things up.
