How does Woodson pack SO MUCH in just 196 pages?! This story follows 2 families from an unplanned pregnancy through that baby's 16th birthday. We are treated to the families created, the joys celebrated, and the dreams realized. A stunning story. Highly recommend the full-cast audio. πŸ’™πŸ“š πŸ’™πŸŽ§

May 2020 - early COVID (Leaving the) Building Dreams As I sit in front of the computer for one more hour of one more work day And think about how many weeks this work-from-home situation and quarantine has taken to seem normal, I dream of going just about anywhere. #poetry 🧡

We moved into this house nearly 20 years ago and our older neighbors across the street were the first to welcome us. Don brought over a grocery bag with bananas and yogurt and oj on our first morning. It was a thoughtful thing as we had zero food in the house and a long day of unpacking ahead. 🧡

Loved listening to Michelle narrate her early and family life with Barak. Very charming. Hearing her speak with such love about serving the public, feeling a call to action, sacrificing things for the good of the country - it was like a salve. Also, fun insights into the presidency! πŸ“šπŸ’™ πŸ“šπŸŽ§ A+

Chatted with an employee at the Order Here counter of a BBQ joint today. She said it is her first real job and she likes it. "All my friends are here, ok money, and decent benefits. After college, I'll probably move on, but for now...." *shrug* 🧡

Someone just got really hostile towards me because I made a mistake in a post. They pointed it out, I owned up to it, I corrected it, and they were STILL super angry and called me names. That's some hostile shit. Bluesky needs to implement post correcting abilities because nobody's perfect.

If you can put in money, put in money. If you can put in time, put in time. If you can put in support, put in support. We can all contribute; it doesn't have to look the same.

Returning from lunch with the colleagues - Me: Did you guys notice the guy with the great earrings in the restaurant? He's in town for a conference from Charlotte, NC., staying at the hotel just down the street, and was very gracious and funny when I accidently cut in line in front of him. 🧡

A remix of Kendi's book for a younger audience. It is accessible and interesting and heartbreaking. From Zurara through Obama - this book covers Jefferson, Malcolm X, Angela Davis, and more. I loved it. Finished it and started again immediately. SO GOOD! The audiobook is amazing. πŸ’™πŸ“š πŸŽ§πŸ“š

Once Again I was hoping not to return here. Now I'm looking at that same wallpaper pattern, waiting for people to recognize me from a year ago. Some do, but obviously, some are just really great at pretending. The friendly volunteer seems to remember me. So that's nice. #poetry 🧡
