When you Uno Reverse your receding hairline
comment in response to post
What I dont get is why someone so insecure with his hairline would want a haircut that looks like hes completely bald and wearing a cheap toupee.

Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Bc Im not seeing the bad

Ironically, had its implementation been restricted to natural language parsing as it was intended and used for, for example, translation and accessibility aids (eg alt text generation, closed captioning, speech-to-text, etc), it likely would be overwhelmingly praised instead of ridiculed.

I wonder how many pregnant women were prescribed cough medicine back when it contained heroin

Yes, but you dont remind the president of his daughter.

As far as Im concerned, the only legitimate response to anything produced by AI is "prove its correct before you run it."

Well im fucked, hahaha

You can only argue one company is better than another if you hold both companies to the same standard. Just bc one refuses to meet that standard doesnt excuse the other from also refusing to meet that standard. Lesser Evilism is how we got Biden and Trump and look where that got us.

Its not fair, its literally illegal. The union didnt ask for 30/hr, the company chose to pay that (temporarily) to prevent their workers from organizing. Unions are the bare minimum necessary to resist exploitation by the company and if a company cant survive with a union it shouldnt survive at all.
comment in response to post
The $30/hr is for non-union employees only. Its an illegal union-busting tactic and they shouldnt be praised for it. www.forbes.com/sites/pamdan...

To be fair, would anyone actually responsible and mature wilfully and blatantly commit multiple obvious felonies like this? I feel like Musk would -need- inexperienced black hats to go along with his bullshit.
comment in response to post
I feel like theres a "dark MAGA", black hat, social engineering joke in there somewhere

Im also expecting this. They do this every time.

Sometimes I wonder if Trump is actually just the ultimate accelerationist
comment in response to post
Just mentioning this bc people seem to think Bsky is pre-Musk Twitter when its more like a public forum designed to make scraping user data easy for anyone to do and Idk if privacy is still a major safety concern for you.
comment in response to post
Idk if youre aware of this, but the protocol Bluesky forces everything public. Its not possible to make your profile private or actually block anyone; anyone who self-hosts or has a bit of programming skills can see everything you post forever.

"LLMs select words partially at-random so that its responses have a more human-like tone. Thats why it sometimes appears to make things up." "Then why does it usually seem to know what its talking about?" *stares in autism*

In other words since what I said might not seem related, it likely wont just be previous corporate comms, itll also likely include the non-tech equivalent of "soon you wont even need to learn these things at all"

improperly was risky and her response was "but its basically a fancy search engine, right? it knows what the internet knows. thats why google uses it". -So- not looking forward to the messes this will cause.
comment in response to post
Its probably worse. My boss (HR mgr) asked GPT how to make an Excel tracker for benefits payments and then had me implement it bc Im technical. Took me 2 hours to clean up the mess it spat out (she wanted -that- specifically bc AI said it was the way to do it). Tried to explain why using LLMs [...]

You can probably thank GPT for that.

This is largely why I just describe it as neurodevelopmental variations: not inherently good or bad for any given individual while also not (from my perspective) excluding those for whom their characteristics are highly debilitating and feel more like a curse than a superpower

I can only see this turning into a more frustrating convo: "Why? Bc everyone has nipples." "Why does everyone have nipples?" "Bc were human, or did you miss that day in biology too?"

If your account being removed is a concern why not download your data and work with a techie friend to self-host?
comment in response to post
I couldnt find anything claiming this. Where did you read it?
comment in response to post
I just observe as much as I can while expecting it to continue getting worse until society at large becomes willing to do the only thing that has, historically, actually worked.

I got a positive eval back in '16 and did this over the next few years. I eventually learned to unmask but now its hard to mask at all and is far more draining when I do.

And here Ive been thinking Trump being in office might have a silver lining bc it would make Dems give a shit about people they otherwise ignore

until Aug '24 when I got my suicidality back (dropped from 8/10 daily back to 6.5-7/10). Originally wanted to do ECT instead of TMS but ECT has more significant (albeit usually short-lived) side effects which would have been a problem at work, but now Im afraid of any further treatment options.
