I’ve been curious about conclave catering, and this NYT article provides some answers. “Gregory X decreed in 1274 that after three days of conclave, cardinals would get only one meal a day. The more days they took, the less food they got.” Chop, chop, gentlemen.

Mama Robin has been on the nest for a few days. She is so patient. At first, we treaded lightly on the stairs of our split-level. But today, we needed to clean our nest, which meant the noise of vacuuming. She seemed to understand.

When my kids were little, we lived in a small town in northern Minnesota. They went to Head Start, which helped save us from a dangerous domestic situation. They grew up to be an LPN and a science teacher.

Today I sent my novel 4 DUMB ONES to beta readers for feedback. It's like sending your kid off to daycare. You know they need the socialization and it's best for their development, but you still want to spend a few more days making sure they can make it out there without you.

After a trip to the bookstore, visiting the library, and shopping at the drugstore, I spent a few minutes with the 150-year-old oaks that the mayor of my town wants to chop down for more parking. I had no trouble finding parking spaces downtown, 3 separate spaces because I am that lazy.

Ancestor “Dick” Phoebe Thelma Mountford, daughter of William Tecumsah Sherman Mountford. She was bookkeeper who pretty much ran the whole electric company while her boss was sick with shingles. As I finish my historical novel, “4 Dumb Ones,” I totally relate to her expression.
