Logged onto my old email account today. It appears 7 months on, I have been unbanned by WordPress. I hope the people that mattered got unblocked, and that they have been given an apology.

One of the magic things about being a human engineer is you can go to sleep with a problem and magically wake up in the morning with a solution in your head. One of the curses is you might wake up at 04:00 with the solution in your head. Good luck getting back to sleep. 😊

If you are a retro gamer who likes Beneath a Steel Sky or Cannon Fodder, you should check out a new game created by @stoocambridge.bsky.social and @tonywarriner.bsky.social from the studios behind those games Kickstarter launched <12 hours ago, nearly 200% funded! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ton...

I saw this headline and thought it looked familiar. Completely forgot for a second that I wrote this feature and blog post 🤦‍♂️

Needed to do some TPM testing at work and the only Infineon TPM I had was on mikroBus 😂

I recently had a chat with @morefunmakingit.bsky.social about retro computer stuff for his new podcast. You can watch it below 🙂

Figured out why my Fluke 45 stopped working. It actually had the battery module in it (I didn't realise) and the battery module is dead.

I have been repairing an #Amiga 4000 motherboard with lots of little faults, none of them battery damage related. This post contains the details of what I found and how I fixed it. linuxjedi.co.uk/amiga-4000-w...

We have a number of community "creators" on the RHD discord server, along with a growing bunch of YouTube channels. Come say hi!

I was recently given my own channel on the Retro Hardware Discord by @morefunmakingit.bsky.social. It is here for anyone who wants to join in: discord.gg/ajCbRtJR9h

I might have found a board which is too much of a challenge…

This morning I repaired a faulty #Amiga A3640 CPU card, this is a short post on how I diagnosed and fixed it. linuxjedi.co.uk/amiga-a3640-...

I recently had a chat with @kateholterhoff.bsky.social about the #WordPress community. It is worth a list if you want to find out a little more about the battles going on.

I upgraded my @frame.work laptop recently, which in this case meant a motherboard swap and a new matte display. For a small fee you can buy this case. It turns my old motherboard into a desktop PC, which will be for @appleyardcandles.bsky.social to use in her new workshop.

It seems no matter where I work, I can't avoid terminology which is difficult to say in public in the UK around non-technical people. In databases it was "Mongo". In cryptography, it is the term "nonce".

For those who missed the @wolfssl.bsky.social / ST Micro webinar on STM32 MPUs I gave earlier this week, the recording is available here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRsO...

I chatted with @linuxjedi.co.uk about what he terms "a war going on within the @wordpress.org community." For this @redmonk.com conversation, we discuss the current litigation, it's broader implications for oss, and his WordPress Slack ban. redmonk.com/blog/2025/03... youtube.com/shorts/c-sWc...

It took me way too long to spot this blob of plastic. It was causing the 3D printer bed leveling to constantly fail.

Next week I'm giving a joint webinar with STMicroelectronics about accelerated encryption on their new range of MPUs. Sign-up to hear me talk about cool hardware and software. us02web.zoom.us/webinar/regi...

I have a new Saleae Logic Pro 8. Definitely 10/10 for packaging. Looking forward to using it.

New mixer to go with my 486 PC. It is a bit discoloured but works really well. When fully setup, I will have my Roland SC-55 and MT-32 connected to it, along with the PC sound card.

There is some kind of irony having a Windows recovery screen on a bus that broke down taking us from the plane at Schiphol airport.

Does anyone else see the walking times to the gates at Schiphol Airport as a challenge, or is it just me?

After using AI to assist me in software dev, I have a thought: It is very much like a mech suit. If you know what you and it are capable of, it can augment your skills. Throwing it on someone unskilled at random and expecting good results may not be a good idea.
