I understand your point and I agree with it! I don't support the zionist view points of these people. I try to focus on the zionism and not on the dissonance between the labels they self describe with. in fact, them identifying as pro-palestinian helps me try to convince them to stop bieng zionist!

their solution to the problem (which is the genocide that they agree is happening) differs from mine in a way i find troubling. often it resembles the reservations in the united states. it almost always resembles some continuation of settler colonialism. but like. these are members of my community.

most of my conversations about zionism take place offline. i can't choose to block people in my local social groups because they disagree with me about something. there's no block button irl. i have to meet them somewhere in order to get anywhere in these conversations.

i think for them zionism is less about "israel needs to exist on palestinian land" and more about "israel exists right now and this is my way of being pragmatic about it." it's basically like reformist liberalism. which is flawed! i agree! but there is a difference in ideology.

well it depends on how you define pro palestinian.
raising money for palestinians, getting arrested for protesting, etc? no, they don't do that. but neither do most friends i have who identify as fully antizionist.
