Hopefully things change here, as my big worry about AI talk on this site is that people are being misled about the capabilities of AI by influencers who are telling them what they want to hear. AI is not going away, it will impact all of our futures, and it needs more voices shaping its direction.

I would guess a large portion of the population does not appreciate the full health harms from wildfire smoke. As we learned from the pandemic, there are more airborne risks than just what we see. The risk is more serious for some groups, including seniors. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Yes! On one of my first government consulting gigs, I was shocked to discover that the border ‘stakeholders’ were customs brokers, not import users. Brokers with a vested interest in making it difficult to import! I pictured them holding stakes to kill off any innovation.

1 - lack of transparency and accountability: these "deals" get done in back rooms and public doesn't see any details - costs, no public reporting of outcomes and access metrics, no accountability... nada. (look at CSFs - they do NOT have to report like hospitals) 2/12
