It’s hard not to be in awe of the Aurora borealis! #alaska #mothernature

Reflecting the beauty of the #night. #Alaska

#Denali days in Talkeetna, #Alaska

Dogs are used to more snow 🤣 #Alaska #Iditarod #Anchorage

Iditarod ceremonial start today in downtown #Anchorage. The made it happen despite a record low snow year. Go mushers go!

Happy #Valentines to my lovely ladies!

Twenty Mile River photos from my #drone. #winter #Alaska

#Skiing field trips make me a happy #teacher

We brought skates thinking we knew what we were doing. Biking up Twenty Mile to find all the good ice for skating. Turns out the good skating isn’t actually ON the river. The fat #biking was only a little sketchy. The landscapes were stunning. Classic #Alaska #winter #AlaskaSky

Have you ever seen rocks floating in #frozen water? I hadn’t until yesterday! I’ve been told two theories for this. One is heavy rains on top of a frozen bottom layer. Another is turbulent waters in the shallows. Both could have been at play here. #Alaska #winter

Beautiful #snow and #ice formations on 20 mile river yesterday! #alaskasky #winter

When your #dog needs a #snow bath ❄️ 🐾❄️

Absolutely wild #ice formations today at the Glen Alps. #AlaskaSky #winter

Sometimes a dead plant can be the most beautiful part of the trail. Pretty sure this is a devils club bush covered in #hoarfrost Either way it was at the Glen Alps and captivated me on each pass as I checked out the newly groomed trails.

#Dog walks are a beautiful way to start the day! #DailyDogWalk #Alaska

University #Lake gets some fun ice features in the thin ice. #DailyDogWalk #AlaskaSky

I brought nature journaling and bog walks into our weekly lessons and my #classroom. These are my nature journals from the workshop that I show my class every year before we make #student nature journals. #teacher #AlaskaSky

My last AK Geographic workshop was an eye opener as to how I can bring nature into everyday lessons! #Seal #WildlifePhoto taken during the last workshop at northwestern #glacier in #kenaifjordsnationalpark #AlaskaSky

I applied for an @alaska.geographic #teacher training in Katmai this summer and I hope I get it!!!! A few summers ago I went into Kenai Fjords National Park for an Alaska Geographic teacher training and it changed both my life and my classroom. #Alaska @altnps.bsky.social

Gosh! The hour has just flown by! Thanks to @theroyaltour.bsky.social and @kasiawrites.bsky.social for hosting this #TraveladdictsHistory chat with me. Join us at the next chat on February 20th!

Immigration is such a powerful message for kids to learn about! Last year my class did an immigration reenactment. It was so enriching. They’re also always surprised when I tell them my grandparents were immigrant Jews fleeing the nazis. #traveladdicts #traveladdictshistory

A2 I learned about #Cambodia in a high school elective called genocide. We focused on Rwanda and the Khmer Rouge. It was absolutely appalling and eye opening. I decided NOT to visit the killing fields but rather gave lots of money to local guides in Angor Wat #TravelAddicts #TravelAddictsHistory

A1 I’m Mike and trying out my first #TravelAddictsHistory chat. Henry Box Brown was a slave that mailed himself to freedom! I teach 4th/5th grade US history and we talk about slavery a lot. Henry’s story is a lot less well known than say Harriet Tubman but showed incredible fortitude nonetheless

Blood Rage has some incredible figures! Like the battle format. Even if a fire giant just destroyed ALL of my guys #boardgames

New #boardgames! First time playing Blood Rage. Losing is fun right?

I #skied from my house to Russian Jack last night. Conditions are acceptable but definitely not good. Trail is actually pretty fast but a bit patchy. Here’s to hoping we get more #snow soon even though it’s not in the forecast ❄️ #anchorage

Now that it’s good and cold again send the #snow back please and thank you! #Alaska

Spending the day riding a #snow machine for #Alaska #Ski for Women! My wife is a rockstar race coordinator!!!

Koh Phi Phi was my first stop in #Thailand. Beautiful beaches and a simple hike with a good party scene. Just don’t stay on the party beach or in town if you want to get any sleep!
