Respectfully, the “Christian” right evangelicals demonized our trans brothers and sisters and we Democrats allowed it to happen by making it about “otherism” and “nimbyism” and not about privacy, equal rights, and Big Tent.

Thread đŸ§” Our party, the Democrats, have diminished our brand into a nearly unrecognizable academic oligarchy. The billionaire oligarchy has, for now, won over the working class. So get off your ass and stop reposting nasty memes and find ways to connect to working class voters. Now.

ThreadđŸ§” Stop thinking that people who have the time and the means to achieve a college degree are better. Do you know how to change oil in your car? Change a bedpan? Build a house? Fix a leak? Clean your yard? Show respect for those who do. Get to know them - your neighbors.

ThreadđŸ§” Don’t misunderstand: I stand with our trans brothers and sisters and I support all of the liberal agenda. I am writing this bc we are hemorrhaging voters and it is in part bc of the success of the right in fracturing the Democrats and making us the minority.

Thread đŸ§” Get ready to keep goals like trans-rights and, yes, the rights of undocumented immigrants at bay while you emphasize agreement on Social Security, access to Healthcare (Medicare, Medicaid, ACA), tax cuts for the middle class, strong public schools
stuff that matters.

Thread đŸ§” And they are both overweight due to a combination of personal choices, genetics, and culture. So stop it. Stop mocking people who didn’t attend college. Where are you gonna get your car repaired or your deck built without labor? Think about it.

Thread đŸ§” Please STOP the memes and cartoons of overweight people in red t-shirts. That just makes the separation worse The former backbone of the Democratic party has is Labor. My brother and sister are both members of labor unions (Teamsters and Steelworkers). They both live in PA & wear tshirts

Thread đŸ§” At 62, I am a lifelong Capital D Democrat. My birthday is in September, so my first vote was for Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. I vote in every election — as my mom, a consistent pollworker —demanded. I identify as “liberal”. Still unclear what “progressive “ means.

ThreadđŸ§” All 3 of us kids attended public schools. My mom was the PTA president for my elementary school in Philadelphia during bussing/desegregation circa 1967-70. I was part of it: I learned with kids who had to wake up at 4:30am to get to Northeast Philly by 8:30. And then had a 2 hour ride home

If we let Project 2025 fester, we will forget that. FYI: assembly lines and hospitals are 2 of the most integrated industries: if you are focusing on four-year colleges and potential donors, we are all fucked.

Stop labelling it when you are on the assembly line or the hospital night shift with Black and Brown people: just call it American.

The worst thing that has happened to Democrats (and I voted for Carter in 1980 and Dem on every ballot since) is the gentrification of the Party.

You want the working class? You want Labor Union leaders and members? Then stop mocking them. Yeah, they’re overweight - have you ever worked a 60 hour week plus time at your household? Pilates doesn’t look so good.

“Our” approach is patronizing at best.

And yet we Dems belittle people who haven’t gone to college. Those of us “in charge” have never worked for an hourly rate or belonged to a labor Union.

When I see the memes of working class people wearing MAGA slag, i recognize my siblings and their friends who should be on our side. Without the red t-shirt, the awful caricatures represent what Democrats stand for: freedom. Free speech. Separation of church and state.
