Retired. Cats, nature, writing. After a career in a Federal Reserve Bank, I wrote a story of a ghost stuck there. In 2017, I wrote a thesis about the opportunity of AI to find efficiency in regulation (which isn’t what that advisory committee is doing.

And this, too.

I’ve thought this was a joke till now. The article includes his reference to a responsibility for “weed-whacking the weeds.”So he thinks it was his job to apply a single tool and doesn’t see a bigger picture of “removing undesired plants” or “remove weeds.” I wouldn’t hire him even for yard work.

Even as I imagine with wonder how this will help the disabled, I am wondering why we had to shape them like us. Even when I wonder how this might help someone with dementia, I hate that it might be mistaken for a human. Very cool in its capabilities.

If Elon reveals how he won the election for Trump, I could be sure. 🤞

First I felt relief, then I worried the same because there is nothing too low for them.

Reminds me of Vance saying the purpose of a menopausal woman is to help raise her grandchildren. These folks must have some disease process in their brains.

When I worked at the Fed, I was always thrilled to watch Warren opine on the Fed whether I agreed with her or not. Her words are always based on a deep knowledge of the facts at a detail level and her efforts informed by remembering all of us in the public. Sadly, that is true of very few there.

That C among impressive Bs is evidence of a brain that has an strong internal allocator-thingy that preserves balance among learning law, contributing to society, keeping up relationships (e.g., with MC 🐱), growing 💐, etc. That allocator-thingy is powerful in the very best sense of power.

Watching this, I remember your posts about hauling dirt and other less-than-fun tasks. This video is “Bloom where you are planted” brought to life. Thank you.

What they said goes for finance too. An article in the current AARP magazine tells seniors they can be “Saving Money with AI,” and includes CHATGPT when it directs them, “these general-purpose chatbots, simply type your questions…What I found: They're all top-notch.” NO. NO. NOOOOOO!

Chair Powell demonstrated strength in remaining a caretaker of the Fed’s independence. Didn’t expect to see anyone leap from that to AI but the combo of “AI” and “Fed” probably elevates a post. On what do you base your conclusion that the Fed “rigged the market...AI companies can never lose value”?

Yes, but we ought to be countering. A MAGA takes away that Dems are worried about money for foreigners enrolled at Harvard while they can barely afford trade schools. 🍊 💩 is rounding in MAGA support. Dems come off as worrying about Harvard to the EXCLUSION of the Trades.

Rather than bashing the numbers, they and their tech bro funders could so easily have created efficiency/improved estimation capabilities. And built edu for kids who could someday create next models. Even if nothing else, just Project 2025’s assault on data and statistics is devolving our society.

And natural language processing and AI are amazing at laser-focusing the act of controlling the words to effect our content reception and sentiment with tiny shifts we humans aren’t likely to detect.

I’m in a 55+ neighborhood. I learned a neighbor who’d just moved in died, leaving an orange cat and a striped cat. Another neighbor took them right in. 😻 😻 I’m very grateful when I hear of agreements among neighbors to provide a home for one another’s pets. Plans matter for 🐱 🐶 . Can’t wait for 📕.

I don’t blame the poor or others for being financial illiterate and agree $ makes it easier. I blame the lack of teaching early enough in life when it would become 2nd nature by the time they are adults. I think some voters attached themselves to lies about finances because the tales filled a void.

Serious question in the context of a financial system made more complex with crypto, a weaker or nonexistent CFPB, and the dismantling of the Dept of Education, are UBI folks working around in the financial literacy deficiencies space? Resources would be appreciated.

The link gets some redirect messages and asks for another click. Is it meant to do that?

Thank you! Earlier today, I read three “we’re winning” posts and then one “we’re in trouble” that made me feel ill. There is so much information about the workings of government that too few understand, Dems included. I am trying to envision what might provide a comprehensive view from day to day.😵‍💫

This is part of their game. Musk has talked about UBI and crypto. I think it goes beyond greed - they are playing with the financial system in order to gain control over humans. 🥜

Worried about the frog, I learned little in HS biology class. In my twenties, got sick, gave history. Doctor asked for origin of something my brother had. I said “genital.” It was “congenital.” We who didn’t study in biology-related fields just didn’t use that word back in the 80s.

Yes! Someday, if there are humans, they will look at the resources we used to create 5 sizes, 10 colors, 8 shapes, etc. which aren’t substantially different things and shake their head. At the grocery, I can’t help but resent the loss of land, electricity, etc. all to house 25+ displays of M&Ms. 🤔

So crazy that AI is doing things we don’t want it to do, like write novels, but can’t be used for pricing. And Kroger’s “deals” - I understand they are profitable because only customers who need the deals and have time will use their terrible app to clip coupons. But does it have to be so stupid?

Writers who use AI should take 📝 . The AIs they use in writing can be tinkered with in the same way to create any type of bias in their output. If done slowly and subtly, it can be difficult to detect but mind-changing for readers of the finished work. Trusting developers we don’t know is dangerous.

Well, if it is for the cats, then you must iron.😹I don’t blame them for getting annoyed, I’ve felt so bad the times I’ve shocked a cat.

😔 I can’t tell who is holding the expensive purse. Please tell me my tax $ are not paying for someone to carry her purse while she is out cosplaying and and doing the devil’s work.

That’s close! Is the tea towel decorative or used? Over winter, my house is dry, must use filtered water for humidifier - so I bought stands that go over heat registers where I dry 🧺, to get moisture in air rather than out the dryer vent. Quite wrinkled towels, but still, no ironing!

🤣 Original post reminded me of certain car ride way back while this song played, but still when I saw your post I was quite shocked! I know time is strange but, I agree, how was that over 40 years ago?
