Adding to the chorus of 'please don't.' As someone who uses inat heavily for fungi & for work, who is a curator, who loves that iNat still feels like a corner of the internet that hasn't been ruined by bots....
Please please don't. No one wants this.

Thanks, I'm certainly trying! Next time I rewire this (IDK, next year?) I need to pick up some heavier gauge wire (or hell, just copper wire) and try to see if I can get a little more movement into the trunk.

Attempt 2. Broke down and used heavier gauge wire

There's some arthropods I will touch - many are good boys and girls - but some just deserve a far away salute for the good work that they do.
Anyway, I didn't see wheel bugs yesterday, but here's a Zelus luridus

Thank you, that makes sense!
This definitely confused me while I was trying to identify spores, so that tracks.

Yup. Anything that hits the livestock that are well taken care of, is going to hit our wild natives worse.

ugh. It would make sense.
I literally have multiple pollinator habitat signs up and I STILL get people knocking at my door trying to spray for insects. It's frankly disturbing.

I will say, we have had an *unusual* amount of rain, I wouldn't be surprised if that is contributing.

Yessssss! I love planting native hummingbird plants!
I've also got several penstamons + one of our native honeysuckles, Lonicera dioica

Well thank you for your contributions!
Every little bit helps, and engaged citizens doing what they can to plant native plants is going to be huge for saving our insect & bird populations from collapsing more than they already have

I think the main reason is because ornamental cultivars can be patented. Straight species, not so much.

I SCREAMED when I got to the cliffhanger.
