The guy was just exuding hate for everything American without any nuance. This is going too far and some Canadians do that now. I guess I'm a kind of contrarian because I don't like to see that and I say so.
comment in response to post
I need to tell you, the reason I made this reaction is because I witnessed myself an incident some days ago on Bluesky where a Canadian was super aggressive and arrogant, even insulting, towards an American female user who didn't do anything to deserve that.

By ONE vote! 🤣 It's actually an extensive suburban area just north west of Montreal. Yes I know we are close to a majority. But what I say is that normally it should have been a landslide. It's a shame it wasn't and it's an indication that we have our fair share of idiots in the country.

And since we are in the numbers, I have some for you: in 2021 the Conservatives got 33.74% of the popular vote, but in 2025 they got 41.3%. Which means MORE Canadians voted for C than before, and that was AFTER all Trump's threat against Canada's sovereignty. How do you explain this away?
comment in response to post
In other words, NO, we are NOT "so much better than these stupid Yankees". Slight nuances of numbers won't change this (obviously uncomfortable) reality.

The purpose of my message was not about the details in the numbers, it was about Canadians not being in a position to "school" Americans with an air of moral superiority. And Carney's victory was definitively underwhelming, considering the country was facing an existential threat/crisis/whatever.

As they say about social media, you (the user) are not the customer, you are the product. 😄

I should read it then. Not especially for Trudeau, but for the whole of it.

Good thing she didn't become full maga then, yes, and you're right, these ideologies spread like an infection. And social media act like an accelerant.

I agree. This is something that's creating a greater and greater malaise on me. It's not all people, but I've seen a number of Canadians online starting to talk to Americans with an *undeserved* air of moral superiority that makes me criiiiiinge and want to hide under the table.

He had a way of often making a fool of himself, putting on ridiculous disguises to "look like" some of the countries minorities. His actual policies were actually okay, but Justin Trudeau, the man himself and the way he behaves, was always kind of a joke. Not always a serous politician.

I'd like to remind these Canadians that Carney won by a hair, that the Liberal Party doesn't even have a majority government, and that if Trump had been smart enough to shut up about the 51st state, 100% we would have a Trumpette in power in Ottawa today.

We ended up at the end of the Justin Era with a major housing crisis around the country, and only now we're starting to take some actions about it. Sorry for the long answers, when I start on a subject, I tend to write a lot. 🤣 Have a great weekend.

.. anyway, at the end, as I said his actual policies were good enough, so he was okay. His biggest mistake was to press the gas pedal to the floor bringing in immigration, and that's good, but without lifting a finger to create the necessary resources to accommodate all these people.

Before politics, Justin was an actor and theatrical teacher, and it shows. His whole political personality, when he decided to get involved, was based on showing a political left-inspired embrace of multiculturalism, which is a good thing, but done in an exaggerated, clownish way.
comment in response to post
The father was a real major league politician, an old-school intellectual of the philosopher type. So little Justin with his dances disguised as an Indian... well, it was as if he actually didn't want to be taken seriously. 😄 www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnC5...
comment in response to post
Yes, from another country the view is often different. Outside people often miss many elements of the full background. In the case of Justin, the only reason why he met success as a politician was because he inherited the Trudeau name from his father, Pierre Trudeau, a legendary former Canadian PM.

... and I think it's because Bluesky's content is generally too focused on American politics. It kind of becomes suffocating after a while.

It's not going to work. The fundamental way the current AI technology is conceived makes it inherently unreliable. This is not from a temporary lack of improvement. It's by design. Maybe a future AI technology will cut it, but not the one we see now.

Just one very good example I ran into exactly today.

Yes, you probably hear a V-shaped formation of Canada geese migrating north, it's springtime. They sound like a bunch of rusty steel wheels turning in the sky.

Would "Space Visitor" be a title that satisfies everyone?

... never understood the interest.

The Congress as it is now won't impeach him, so the only realistic option is for him to become lame duck at the next mid-terms.
comment in response to post
For a serious and respectful answer to your question: there is indeed no obvious option to do this. Trump was legally elected and can only be removed by legal actions. An Arab Spring-style insurgency won't work, and is not something we wish anyway.

This is actually heartbreaking more than funny. Americans deserve better, seriously. I still can't understand what's going on.
comment in response to post
This is why AI technology as it is conceived now is way over hyped. It has creative potential but don't expect accuracy, which reduces the number of it's realistic application fields a lot.

That version is speedish!

Despite being "on paper" a Catholic, I'm actually an atheist and I couldn't care less about the Catholic Church. BUT: this is so cringely unprofessional from a sitting president, I can barely believe it's happening.

So, he's the target now?
