I remember someone posted an old newspaper article about the Lynching of Emmett Till and the writer was going on about how actually the south is safer for black people because of Chicago crime rates. I was struck by how it sounded exactly like fox news today.

Nowhere does the episode suggest he should've just let the perp go and maybe try to get him later since firing shots in an apartment building of inherently risky (and the perp was just trying to evade the cops). Deescalation is almost never a solution
