That said, this doesn't explain Buttigieg getting literally 0% in a primary survey. Even if they less pro-gay than white democrats, most of them are not homophobic and support gay rights nowadays
comment in response to
post
Maybe not compared to white people in general, but they're certainly more homophobic compared to white democrats because partisan polarization has sorted all white homophobes into the republican party, while manu socially conservative black people are still democrats

Also, I don't think it applies to school library books, just books used for classroom instruction.

Basically all schools already allow opt-outs for sex-ed and sex-ed classes still happen without much problem in most places. I disagree with the ruling as a matter of constitutional law, but I don't think it will have the significant practical effects you're describing.

They still had Cuomo winning the first round and will likely still overestimate him in the final results

Fahrenheit used the freezing point of a solution of brine to set the zero of his scale, instead of plain water
comment in response to

Besides absolute temperature scales, all of them are arbitrary. It's not like there is anything fundamental about the freezing point of water at 1 atm

This isn't an actual YouGov poll, it was conducted via YouGov's panel, but the people responsible for it are a group of Yale college students. A few months ago, they released a survey of young voters with mathematically impossible crosstabs, so errors don't seem to be unusual for them

Remember when Bezos said that the opinion section would be restricted to defenses of "personal liberties" and "free markets"?

Apparently, she did work at the Heritage Foundation many years ago though
comment in response to

Not that the Manhattan Institute is a beacon of trans acceptance, but they are at least supposed to be less focused on culture war stuff
comment in response to
post
Yeah, that's the one from the Manhattan Institute. The Heritage Foundation is horribly anti-trans, I doubt there is any an open trans woman working for them
comment in response to

The Heritage Foundation has a transgender analyst? Aren't you maybe thinking of the Manhattan Institute?

What is the reason for that?

"Have you noticed that the age demographic who accounts for only ~16% of the adult population is outnumbered by the age demographics that account for more than half?" Least innumerate conservative
comment in response to
post
At least the worst outcome (a ruling that would have completely rejected the notion that trans people are a suspect class) has been avoided for now, though there are obviously at least three justices in favor of that (Barrett, Alito and Thomas)
comment in response to

It's so dishonest too because Thomas will most likely vote against bans on conversion therapy next term despite that also being a medical issue

Lol, do you think that was the only bill that was ever voted in the Minnesota Legislature, you fucking moron? No other motive other than the fact she was a democratic lawmaker who voted with her part >99% of time, I guess. Idiot

He was appointed to some non-partisan board that also includes republicans. Not sure if you are aware of this and nust being dishonest or, like the bulk of the MAGA biomass, you're just too much of an imbecile

This spreadsheet had the MA district at D+25 in 2020 and D+20 in 2024. It has just been corrected. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

The ones in Florida had tens of thousands of votes and the dems overperformed just fine

Was this really only Harris+6? Because the spreadsheet by Ethan on Twitter has it at D+20. I hope you're right because a 20-point underperformance would be embarassing in this environment

The shift is mostly because the republican base itself has fried their brains on this issue due to a constant stream of anti-trans slop through the past years. Trump is pandering to them, even if he doesn't personally care much about it

And as I said elsewhere, those questions on transgender issues are mostly from surveys conducted in January or February, so before Trump's popularity tanked
comment in response to

Under Biden, the backlash to social liberalism didn't register in polling until 2023, so maybe we just have to be patient
comment in response to
post
The immigration questions include data from more recent surveys, so it can already account for some backlash
comment in response to
post
All of these transgender questions are from surveys in January or February, so it isn't possible for these results to measure any sort of thermostatic effect. The exceptions are the hotline one (May) and university funding one (March).
