Thousands of people lined up at the Minnesota Capitol to pay tribute to slain lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Between the caskets was an urn containing the ashes of the family’s golden retriever, Gilbert.

MAGA is a very ugly force.

The intensifying and expansive heat wave affecting around 150 million people in the United States from Wisconsin to Washington, DC, bears the hallmarks of human-caused global warming.

If you’re still on Twitter, ask Jordan Peterson if he thinks Trump represents chaos or order. Let me know if you get a reply.

Now time to listen to Dire Straits song, Brothers in Arms.

Dear Americans Capitalism with socially funded essential service is not Marxism. It is not communism. It is the most fair and successful arrangement based on comparisons of countries. You have been duped by the tycoon mafias if you think capitalism with publicly funded essential services is Marxism

Don’t tell me “everything happens for a reason”. It might, in the trivial but still questionable sense of everything has a prior cause, but not in the sense of a grand scheme of justice and rightness. Look around. One page of news will tell you otherwise. The children. Even the precious pets!

MAGA should actually have been MAASHC.

If you’d like to get value from #ChatGPT, ask it this: Given that nefarious governments and over-entitled billionaires fund right wing influencers, it seems that there are benefits to enemies of “the average person”. What are they?

It will be the biggest f*ckover of the middle class and the poor ever seen.

“Strongman” politicians project their supposed strength by attacking immigrants, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. But these groups of people aren't the "threats" we should be worried about. Who is? The oligarchs who earn their keep by exploiting the rest of us.

#spellingbee did anyone else notice the change in letters today? #nyt

@washingtonpost.com did you not cover the king in Canada 🇨🇦 today? #elbowsup #cdnpoli

@nytimes.com didn’t see any news about the king in Canada. 🇨🇦 very disappointed. #elbowsup #cdnpoli

60% of American households can’t afford a minimal quality of life. Meanwhile, the 19 richest households saw their wealth increase by $1 trillion in 2024 — the biggest one-year increase ever. Our problem isn't a lack of resources. Our problem is ever-expanding inequality.

A new analysis estimates the Trump/GOP budget's rollback of clean energy tax credits will eliminate nearly 830,000 jobs by 2030 and raise energy prices by 50% by 2035.  Just another way the "big beautiful bill" will make the economy worse and your life more expensive.

It should be clear in spite of the tepid reporting that quite simply, the global tycoon mafias have taken over. Look at intimidation of judges and elected people as extortion. Use that as a lens on the news.

A reminder that if the minimum wage had kept pace with worker productivity gains since the 1960s, it would now be nearly $26 an hour.

Trump is fighting for the average American by striking a deal with the UK that will reduce prices for Rolls Royces and Bentleys.

DOGE was never about "efficiency."

Trump will host a private dinner later this month for the top buyers of his memecoin, which has made him the world's newest crypto billionaire. The top 25 coin buyers will get a "VIP White House tour." Call it what it is: corruption.

“I’m not vouching for the man, but for his constitutional rights.” —Senator Van Hollen

Thank you for going. This is the kind of leadership we need from our Democratic electeds

I hope people realize that Trumptin is still is looking at Canada as its 51st. The only reason he’s gone quiet is not to dampen his buddy Pierre Poliviere’s chances. #cdnpoli #elbowsup.

@nytimes.com so how is it that you think annuitant and other ordinary words are too obscure but somehow riparian is not too obscure to include in Spelling Bee? First world problems obviously. I wish I’d learned to knit.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate. The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

@mark-carney.bsky.social please fix this if you are elected www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/t...

The concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy. When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, the American people don't have a voice. The result? Demagoguery and corruption.

History always has a lesson.
