Conversely (per Hitchens) anything claimed without evidence can be dismissed without counter evidence

I saw about 2 seconds of a stream of it. there was a group horse-mounted personnel and a guy following them with a bag and a shovel, that pretty much summed it up for me.

It's a silly concept. It's like "I want an ignorant blowhard, but a thoughtful and empathetic one" It's just not how it works.

I was in college in the 90s and if I ever had to kill some time I'd go to the library and look at old issues of Rolling Stone

I agree. This is what makes this murder senseless - it improves nothing and only escalates killing.

Did murdering these two people help stop any other murder? I feel it will only cause more death and more oppression as this act will be used as pretext and justification for more violence.

Trust me, you do not want to emulate the soviets. They buried fascists under piles of bodies of their own citizens and oppressed the survivors until country folded, murdering their own just as brutally as the fascists. Still do under Putin.

Zero, but I'd prefer a broken justice system to a complete absence of it, with roving bands of vigilantes murdering people pointed out by social media

Those are valid questions, but the answer is not "anyone who watched the news and got riled up"

The justice system is broken, but it needs to be fixed, not completely discarded in favor of murdering people someone personally deems evil.

No. Even fascists deserve due process. A trial and a fitting punishment for any crimes under the law. Assassinating people on the street is not civilized even if you think they deserve it.

Best news I got this month. BTW whenever Putin is in the news I always think of Karla and he is how I picture Karla in the books.

Oh man, that's a blast from the past! The Hammer was amazing, the meatball thing is because he did a commercial for Ikea in the Chicago area. I went to an appearance of his at a Meijer, where he did a meatball cooking demo. It was so good.

There are a few other great ones out there, TheWildRumpus, SoyCorsi, just a couple that come to mind. I know it's hard to narrow down to top 10

When they said that it's not the crime but the coverup that often costs you they lesson Trump took is to do all the crimes openly. I have to say it's been working very well for him.

What about expanding the Smiley-verse? I absolutely admire, respect, and support that you're your own voice, but since you hinted at maybe diving into that world again, I thought it'd be OK to ask.

That's the interpretation of the two mindsets that resonates with me. I'm a Gen Xer, but saying "no problem" is my normal response and sounds natural to me, meaning "it was not a burden for me to help"

Before this, Ashkenazi Jews often used patronymic naming conventions, where individuals were identified by their father's name, or other informal identifiers. This shift to surnames marked a significant change in Jewish naming traditions.
