This reminds me a little of the post-Brexit fallout in the UK. Not sure if any of these people are changing their views as much as covering their own arses “the problem isn’t that I’m wrong, it’s incompetence on the part of the administration” etc…

This is the line, but is it actually true? A few will complain and make threats, but when the LSE conducted interviews with 1%ers last year, modest increase in tax was hardly mentioned as a reason to leave. Hell, some feel a moral responsibility to pay. Example: eprints.lse.ac.uk/121396/1/III...

5bn is a paltry amount in the grand scheme of things. You could look at a 1% increase in the tax rate on wealth over 10 million, you could align Capital Gains Tax with income tax rate, raise corporation tax, tax on properties worth over 2m. None of these would hurt working people and raise more.

Honestly, they are giving the book the best PR imaginable with all this.

Presumably she’s referencing the Salisbury poisonings. Though from memory Corbyn’s initial hesitancy to blame Russia changed once he’d seen compelling evidence. There isn’t much of a comparison at all, but hey this is Priti Patel.

It’s about how the question is asked. This is the problem with A LOT of market research, findings can be manipulated to return what those who commission it want. Same goes with focus groups, a moderator exercises control over what is discussed and can take it in a direction that fits their biases.

They’re killing the idiots that voted for them, and a lot of people who didn’t. This techno fascist shit is straight out of 80’s sci fi.

Is there anyone left in Tories who might be remotely capable of leading? Suppose if there was, the members would vote for the other person anyway but still.

I might be being overly cynical here, but I think the Spotify money and exposure had an impact as well. He fell into line pretty quick.

Those numbers are also complete bullshit. He’s just pulled them out of his fat, orange backside.

I do find the reasons (and the country fate-esque image used) depressing though. Win at Penge cycles is a top bloke, but the bakehouse is a destination for zone 2 hipsters, Southey have been struggling for years. My concern is the community, as this is just more fuel for the estate/letting agents?

He’s starting to look more like the player I remember when he played for Forest. Good prospect, wish him all the best.

Fellow Brit here, another example would be neutering the World Service. Pretty much to appease Rupert fucking Murdoch.

Yes that’s very true.

I remember back then how some racists would say they had no problem with migration from Europe. In fact they were actually pro, assuming those migrating were white and from a Christian background.

Dem strategists are just awful. You have a problem connecting with young men, so bring in a guy like Walz, presumably because it was felt that he would be able to relate to that demographic due to his background and then you dump him?

And “reverse racism”. They will say it’s evidence of 2-tier policing and how political correctness meant that Muslims “get off”, while whites are sent to prison. What they absolutely won’t do, is give a toss about the victims.

Even if this was a real thing that worked, why the fuck would you use it? People enjoy doing a lot of those things, paying for a holiday is the miserable bit, planning it is generally quite fun. Completely pointless like most of what he comes up with.

Like an early twitter. No ads, promoted posts, fewer dickheads. The company that owns it also seems to be alright. You can create your own private networks and custom feeds as well, no idea how though.
