How dumb do you have to be to believe that the ex-crack addict who hawks pillows has the real story on a massive conspiracy to throw an election?

Profiles in cowardice.

We were promised taco trucks on every corner but this will have to do.

California brings three legal claims: 1. Trump's order is illegal under 10 USC 12406 because that law requires orders to be issued "through the governors of the States." 2. Trump's order is illegal under the 10th Amendment because it usurps police power 3. Trump's order is arbitrary and capricious

It's never too late to unfollow him.

Completely bonkers take.

Oh, I can conceive just fine, thanks.

This bears no relation to reality.

Exactly. We can say, "yeah, the USA is shit, always has been, screw the flag" or we can say, "the USA has high ideals and when it lives up to those it's a force for good in the world, so we choose to believe the flag represents those things."

"This country disgusts me, and I can acknowledge that along with the fact that there’s nothing I can do as an individual to change that." WTF do you call that if not cynical and despairing?
comment in response to post
The world is complex. The history of this country is complex. A lot of bad shit, but some incredibly important good things as well. Those of us who think the flag represents the better parts aren't willing to cede the ground to those who think it stands for the shit parts they like.

We're all little drops in a huge bucket. Posting your cynicism and despair helps no one.

You joke, but it's coming.

LOL. Dude needs to cry harder.

If Leo did that, ICE would be all over it, arresting anyone with brown skin.

5. Blame the "globalist elites."

Cue the iT wAs RiGgEd responses.

There's always 1/3 of the country that's batshit crazy. So the theoretical max for supporting due process rights is 67% and that's probably within the margin of polling error.

We only get back the power to change things by winning.
comment in response to post
Yes, "USA sucks" is a winning political message. That guy is brilliant, just brilliant. 🙄

You effing idiot, you accused a loyal Democrat of being divisive while you hold up an extremely divisive mfer as your hero. GFY.
comment in response to post
Doesn't change the facts that he only calls himself a Democrat when it's convenient (when it's primary season for him in VT) and routinely trash talks the Party.
comment in response to post
LOL, Bernie's not a Democrat and he shits on the Democratic Party daily. But do go on, o ye of little brain.

It's a cult, Joe. Cultists don't argue with the cult leader, they just nod their heads in agreement.

They're high on their own supply of self-righteousness. Yet somehow they manage to completely avoid directing any of their ire at Hamas, who are primarily responsible for the entire shitshow.
comment in response to post
I understand that you're unwilling to accept criticism, but my snark is accurate. I'm muting you now so feel free to have the last word, you can probably find another platitude to trot out.
comment in response to post
A lot of people are going to eat that shit up, unfortunately.
comment in response to post
You just post one platitude after another.

This is a pretty balanced article. And I do think a better version is possible, though corruption on both sides of the border would make fair implementation challenging. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracero...
comment in response to post
The Bracero program made sense. It was flawed but arguably better than what has come after. We could bring back something like it but with much better protections for the workers.

It's been a cudgel for the right wing for decades, and as the Republican Party has marched steadily to the right, even those who know better have fallen in line. E.g., Rubio, who went from sponsoring a serious reform bill to spouting the racist, Trumpist line to stay politically viable.
comment in response to post
I've long since given up trying. They're such self-righteous gits, they don't realize they're Useful Idiots for the people they claim to oppose.
comment in response to post
LOL, we'd live in perpetually worsening serfdom while the parasites at the top grow ever richer.
comment in response to post
It's shorthand for "you don't know what you're talking about and it would be too much work to educate you."
comment in response to post
Exactly. I was living there during Occupy when assholes wearing masks were smashing windows of small businesses on and around Broadway. Mom and pop places weren't spared.

Stupid people who can't be arsed to learn civics, but know very well how to yell at a Black man.

Sounds about white, screaming at a Black man to Do Something he's not in a a position to do.

Counterpoint, the media are a big part of the problem. We would not be in this mess if not for their compliance and complicity.
