Paywall is stopping me. I can't afford to be a paying subscriber, so I'm afraid I won't be able to know what the must read content is.

Do you really think that the whole state deserves this? Seriously?

I'm pretty sure this is the theory. I just heard the interview with the fire chief there and he implied as soon as the firefighters arrived, they were fired on.

Same here. The struggle is real. But we're still trying. We're fencing the garden and using automatic sprinklers for the hostas.

So jealous you have a great one. I went to our local one for the first time yesterday and it was tragic. 5 or 6 booths, very little produce, prices were very high. I went to support, but left without buying anything. Ex: $20 loaves of bread, 3 small carrots in a bunch-$4, a single cookie in a bag-$4

Fruit. We just don't ever get around to eating it. Oddly, we eat tons of fresh veggies.

This garden can be restored, but it's going to go through a lot of damage before that happens. Like us.

Yeah. I do. I agree with you. I'm just pretty grumpy about how we women are getting treated. But there's a multitude of folks who are in real danger. You covered most of them.

You're 💯 % correct.

High heat, crushing humidity, mosquitoes, no AC, surrounded by shade-less swamps...what could possibly go wrong?

Gardening is going to be essential.

Way to be! ❤️

Pretty sure it's going to be narrower than just race. Women are lumped into the "not worthy" category as well.

She really chose that dress? Voluntarily?

This is a long game, but I've found that opting out of everything not essential is freeing. Time you can claw back is the goal. Don't let yourself get sucked into meaningless performances or bs tasks. Refuse to play. Anything you can eliminate that sucks time for no good reason is a win.

You are so lucky. If you can put a light near the toad house, it will attract flying insects at night and basically give the toad DoorDash.

You're making a big assumption that the phones will actually, you know, work.

I know. I realized it as soon as I typed it. 😁

Don't you just get exhausted? Thanks for your continued patience with reporting all this nonsense.

He's attempting to imitate Trump's expression. Hilariously.

They will sleep eventually unless one of them gets homesick and then you'll have to call the mommy or daddy to rescue them.

Agreed. You could face late night pasta cooking with throwing spaghetti at the wall to test for doneness. * *I may or may not be speaking from personal experience.

I think forward-thinking people are moving away from those areas, if possible.

We've passed "kinda" unhinged long ago.

I'm directly descended from a Revolutionary War soldier. He was a drummer. He got a pension for his service. But he was an immigrant. So were my other ancestors who came from England, Scotland, France, Ireland and Germany. I don't get this whole ancestral purity nonsense.

Let me think about it for a minute.

It's also possible that the shooter was scared off by her seeing him and trying to speak to him. He knew he couldn't accomplish his crime and moved on.
comment in response to post
There was a manifesto in the shooter's fake police car. It had a list of targets. I imagine it also has more about motive. I hope it gives them enough to identify the shooter and arrest them.

The way the story was written hurt my brain. It was very confusing because quotation marks weren't used for direct quotes and the present tense was annoying. The content was worthy of more careful editing.

I think I needed this. Thanks.

The National guard is not placed to do police or immigration enforcement.

Me too. And as a teacher later, my principal was a guardsman there that day. He was horrified by what happened.

The trouble is the moral beacon is a lie. We're historically capable of atrocities. This is our weakness and our shame. What we do now is what will reflect who we are or aspire to become.

Only if one is not in the cult. The cult's immune to those pesky laws.
