I don't have a strong opinion on her ability as an actress, but the levels of failure achieved by this movie could never be accomplished by one person alone. It was a *systemic* dysfunction.

I love it. I have a PHEV due to range anxiety, but stories like this make it less.

I am exactly what Fox News purports to love (except for being wealthy and racist), and I hate those fascist-loving motherfuckers.

My kids are huge pains in the ass but they don't let anyone think for them, including me, and as frustrating as that is I wouldn't have it any other way. I had them with the idea that they would surpass me. How can they do that if I'm making sure they are hidebound to the way I see things???

You don't have to eat the whole loaf if the first slice is moldy. Apply that philosophy broadly.

Let me just say if anyone tried to call for a moment of silence, I would make sure to fart as loudly as I could the whole time. And I'm not normally a vulgar fucker, but I'd make an exception for him. Such is my respect.

I've never heard of this. Right now I'm on Ajovy and it's been life changing because without it I get such frequent and severe migraines. But it's super expensive even with insurance, and if I ever lose use of the manufacturer's coupon that brings it down, I'll give this a try.

By all means, you do you, but it sounds like hanging out at the mall, except worse.

To say you prefer human imperfection is giving AI way too much credit. It's not bad because it's too perfect—far from it. I don't even hate AI but it can't replace creatives at all because it's terrible at doing their things.

I think a Claymore would get the job done pretty well.

We need Chris Evans to do a Captain America video update of this idea.

There are cosplay trolls who get off on making sure inclusive people feel attacked by "unreasonable" minorities for not doing enough, thus driving a wedge between minorities and allies. So is this genuine distress or performative? Whatever it is you probably can't solve their issue.

I've never felt safer or more accepted as a person than when hanging out in a trans space. I'm not queer. Just a nerd. It felt like a cheat code. It only happened once—the event organizers fell out—so idk if it was just a magic moment or if it's always like that, but I would definitely recommend.

> detailed disclosures I don't really want an answer to this but..... how detailed? Because after about 5 seconds, 10 tops, I'm thinking you have left "haha" territory and entered really awkward display of poor mental health.

I won't be using it until it gets adopted into Firefox and Safari. But neat I guess. I haven't done much CSS in several years but I can't remember needing to do anything I couldn't do with selectors and pseudo classes. I'm just getting back into more front end so maybe it will be useful soon.

Wait did they flip back again? They went hard into queer rights, then backed down, then reversed course to say DEI is A-OK, and now they are firing pro-DEI people? These 🤡s are swerving like Pete Hegseth at closing time. And opening time. And the rest of the time.

I keep seeing posts and thinking, "eh they aren't talking about me and probably aren't fishing for my hot take," and not responding. I must be doing Bluesky wrong. I do understand the irony of this statement, thank you.

I have 3 daughters, a kid exploring gender identity, and a gay son. They lost. Big. I don't blame anyone. The economy was bad and that was all that mattered on Election Day. But if you can't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you feel like you won. Not me.

I unfollow people who consistently block my replies. I get it from time to time or if comments get contentious or wearisome. But when I can't ever reply, why would I bother following? I'll invest in people who interact. If someone is too big for me, I'll focus people my size.

Dems were never going to win this vote anyway due to the economy so the hand-wringing is for naught. Every election is about how the voter is doing economically. Period. Everything else is theater.

AI isn't good enough. Ask a programmer how goods the code is. An author how good the prose. An artist how good the pictures. It's a tool that needs constant editing and correction. I'm not worried except about stupid CEOs buying into the hype and tanking their business going all in on AI.

I've seen a few Ghiblets, but not this one. I'm moving it to the top of my queue. Heard nothing but good things about it.

I will definitely toast his passing, but simply drinking will not be enough to express my joy (and relief, if it happens before he leaves office).

I get garbage from Google and ChatGPT, but the latter is faster and if it's wrong, at least it's because it's wrong and not because it's deliberately lying me to try and get a sale.

Every single one of those sentences are misleading, vague, unsupportable, shallow examinations. Several of them can be reversed and still be true. To wit: Cracking down on drugs has {harms}, and legalizing them has {benefits}. That opening paragraph is bereft of any information whatsoever.

I find it ironic that the thing everyone knows AI for is everything it's terrible at. If you could somehow disable the awful generations you'd have a handy, albeit limited tool.

I troubleshoot computer issues. I get drink suggestions. It finds autocorrect/grammar issues I've missed. It helps me identify things in half-forgotten memories. It's bad at math, but good at explaining polynomials to my daughter. If it does any of that badly, I've lost nothing but seconds.

It makes it difficult to discuss AI because I fundamentally differ on the ethics. But also I find the things everyone complains about are by far not uses that interest me. Image-gen is awful. Text-gen is awful. Voice-gen is awful. I don't see it ever *satisfactorily* replacing creators.

This is like in school when you get all your work done and the teacher rewards you with extra work that wasn't on the lesson plan.

"An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience." That last line is so perfect.

Maybe it's just the kind of programming I do, but working out the code is much less interesting than how you put it together. And when I get frustrated by the work of my team, it's because they've fucked up something structural, not because they used a for loop instead of a Stream.
