Sen Padilla is a sitting US Senator from CALIFORNIA who sits on the Senate Budget Committee and (most importantly) the Judiciary Committee, more specifically, the Immigration, Border Safety subcommittee. Who cares if he interrupted her? She'd rather cuff him than debate him.

"Trump is itching to sic the U.S. military on the American people. That’s his game plan. And that will be his game plan when he tries to cancel the 2026 midterms. Mark my words" - Joe Walsh
That bit about the midterms is for real.

Curious to know how many Black officials Trump has fired since January 20th. A lot going on, but there's some real neo-post Reconstruction stuff at play here that warrants more attention.

Uhmm...this looks very much like what MAGA posted on that other platform after the 2020 election. Careful.

Not sure we can paint them all with the same brush. I guarantee that many of them certainly DIDNT sign up for this. Really REALLY important to focus on where this is all coming from. Counterproductive to focus anger on pawns.

Folks REALLY must bear in mind the context that these are government employees subject to the same threats as all other feds from Trump and his little cabal. Very important NOT to focus anger on the entry-level foot soldier pawn but on the leadership Trump, Miller, Bondi, Noem pressing for this.

As much as I enjoy Trump and Elmo going after each other in such high profile ways, have to stop and wonder if one unelected billionaire tweeting on a platform that he owns SHOULD have the power to (once again) slow or halt the passage of federal legislation? 🤔 something is very wrong with that.

"Once again, this Court dons its emergency-responder gear, rushes to the scene, and uses its equitable power to fan the flames rather than extinguish them," Justice Jackson
Couldn't have said it better.

Oh, so is she predicting a conviction or proclaiming a conviction. Sounds like the latter. If so, what kind of Kangaroo court conviction are we about to see?

"he will face criminal charges for allegedly transporting undocumented migrants within the U.S."
So they're gonna charge him for driving his friends around from a day labor job to home?
I was expecting some kind of RICO charge the way the administration and Bukele have been treating this case.

Getting the sinking feeling that this left vs. center-left cold war is going to cost Dems crucial upcoming elections.

I know this is beside the point, but just trying to imagine 50% of housing purchased going to 1st time home buyers just seems so far removed and extraordinary. And it wasn't that long ago.

Trump seems to have underappreciated the strength of Xi Jinping's position both domestically and Internationally. China, despite its economic problems, is in a very different place politically than they were in 2017. Xi, personally, is much stronger than he was and knows how to use that power.

It's one thing to PLAY the crazy/unpredictable role in negotiations, BUT to actually BE crazy and unpredictable during negotiations just leads to feelings that you are deeply unserious and COULD leave then no choice but to walk away.

Or...Trump doesn't want it to appear that Elon is being pushed out by political rivals. You know, "Only I can fire him" type deal. T hates to admit defeat or failure.

"The plan calls for ending racial quotas and preferences in the hiring process."
This is already illegal
"It also requires agencies to stop collecting statistics “regarding the composition of the agency’s workforce based on race, sex, color, religion or national origin.”

Christians weird extraordinary power in the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary Branches not to mention state, local governmnts, governor's mansions, and school boards where they are merrily banning books, restricting health, and attacking Trans people. Sorry the victim narrative ain't believable.

Lol..he's a teenager. I'm an adukt, why would I stoop to ridiculing a 18yro? Anyone who had every been around an 18yr old boy will tell you, they are very much still children.

I understand you, but...for me, there's no way...NO WAY I make fun of some 18 yro who has not publicly thrown his lot in with his father. He, according to his classmate, just goes to class and goes home. I'll talk trash about Don Jr, Ivanka, and the other one all day, but Barron? Nah, I'll pass..

Trump is an A$$ no doubt. Going after an 18 yr old seems gross though.

So this doesn't even sound like a mainstream GOP position. Whether you believe in climate change or not, who is in favor of unlimited pollution? Yay, smog?!? We really are going back to 19th century.

This is why these folks only engage conservative news media. Just once it would be awesome to see one of these Trump Administration folks on @bbc Hard talk for a REAL hard-hitting interview. Not gonna happen, but wouldn't it be cool?

People in democracies are often awed by how quickly change happens in authoritarian countries. "Wow everything is so clean!" "wow the trains are always on time!" "wow look at all these new buildings!" Unconstrained power allows for a leader to move quickly, no checks or negotiations, just power.

The sounds and the fury is the point. What this administration understands is that most of the electorate is not really paying attention to policy details. Rather they are watching the administration's actions then waiting for their "side's" response and the opposition's response to judge "success."

The trouble with trying to fit every single person/ issue into the American Left vs Right narrow political binary is that it opens the door to a reductive, essentialist PoV. The Pope will promote and defend Catholic values that transcend political ideology. The Pope will never be "America First."

While polls revealing that half the country approves or disapproves of whatever Trump action are in vogue these days, really important to remember that the US is a 50/50 country politically and has been for a while now. Barely half the electorate voted for him,so 50% disapproval is already baked in.
