A) losing weight is hard; B) maintaining weight loss is extremely hard; C) obesity is caused by structural factors more than individual ones. There are legitimate concerns to have about our relationships with weight and weight loss, but being judgy and cheering for Ozempic to fail is not helping.

Weight loss discourse is always tainted by weird moralising. Ozempic discourse is the same as bariatric surgery discourse (gastric bypass etc.) before it; recipients are seen as undeserving cheats, too lazy to lose weight 'the right way'. All of which is irrational given evidence that...(1/2)

I've got my copy it's great. There's something reassuring about having physical, printed document of a cultural moment that feels so niche and weird that people who are either a little too old or a little too young would struggle to believe that it really happened.
